Tampa Concert in Jeopardy

Ford Amphitheatre concert violates noise levels
http://www.tampabays10.com/news/news.aspx?storyid=11782

The February 26th court date Campbell mentioned, is the same day the Jimmy Buffett concert is scheduled at the Ford Amphitheatre. A judge is scheduled to hear the matter at 9 a.m. The concert is scheduled for 8 p.m.

So if you're thinking about going to that concert, it may not happen if a judge shuts down the amphitheatre until they fix an on-going noise problem.

Sounds like tough timing for the Buffett concert. If they've got data proving violations, the concert will likely be toast unless an agreement between the neighborhood and venue could be reached to allow the concert to go on (doubtful).

Well, if it does get cancelled, I'd recommend a parking lot parade throught the neighborhood.

Anyway, good luck to those with Tampa tickets!!

Ford Ampitheater concert

Post by PHinFLA »

To the surrounfing commuinities of the Ford Ampitherater:

Now most of the people who retire in Florida
are wrinkled and they lean on a crutch.
And mobile homes are smotherin' my concert;
Well I hate those bastards so much.
I wish a summer squall would blow them
all the way up to fantasy land.
They're ugly and square, they don't belong here.
They look a lot better as beer cans.

Besides majority of the concerts finish by 10pm. I guess that's too late for some folks.

They're not going to cancel the show that very same night. There would be too many contracts broken. See ya in Tampa!!

I tend to agree. It could cause many more problems than it solves.

I'm sure that Buffett has a clause in his contract that says basically this, "If for any reason that show is cancelled, at no fault of performer, performer will be paid in full." Especially a day of the show cancellation, the venue is going to have to eat the entire cost, and as we know... Bubba doesn't play for pennies. The show will go on. But I agree, parade through the surrounding neighborhoods afterwards regardless!

I wouldn't worry

You're right, there's too much at stake for them to cancel the concert the day of the show. If anything I would see one of 2 scenarios:

1) They would make an arrangement to not schedule anymore shows until the judges ruling on the day of Bubba's show but still allow Jimmy to play regardless of the ruling, or;

2) Jimmy is a smart business man. He doesn't want to upset his Tampa/Florida fans so he may just reschedule well ahead of time and either wait to hear the ruling or just book back at the Ice Palace. We'll hope that doesn't happen.

He appreciates his fans too much to risk his show getting cancelled the day of the concert, regardless if he'll still get paid. Last year I went to the show in San Diego and he got his show pushed back one night because the scheduled night of his show was a monsoon. I'm sure he didn't want to play in the rain, but he knew the chances were better the next night that he, and his devoted fans, would have a lot more fun when it wasn't pouring rain.

I think it's interesting (as someone said before) that there's nothing scheduled at Ford Amphitheater after Feb 26th. If everyone is smart. they'll just let Jimmy play and THEN shut if down....

If they cancel the show, day of, I suspect that might generate some lawsuits, and it will CERTAINLY generate ill will toward Tampa in the mind of Parrothead Nation.... There are LOTS of us... We have credit cards... We spend travel dollars, many of them in Florida... And while I can only speak for myself, I suspect other parrotheads would also avoid Tampa in the future..... It'll cost them nothing to shut the Amphitheater down on Monday. It'll cost them big time, in real dollars, if they cancel the show.

The bottom line is, its all politics. If the judge is an assh**e and good buddies with the "great governor", it may be cancelled. This would be a good way for the Bushes to get back at Jimmy. Don't worry, as far as lawsuits go, everyone is insured for stuff like this, especially Clear Channel.

Called in

Post by areitztara »

I am coming in from pa and have plane tickets and hotel and car, and TICKETS. I called the venue, and they said they would have all information about the concert next Thursday. She told me the concert is on and told me to get my parrothead hat out and get ready for a good time. I got the impression she is getting a lot of calls and they know what they are in for with a Buffett concert.

What about calling the visitors center?
What are the chances of Buffett moving the show. I hope he does not.

I am not lucky enough to be able to attend this concert. BUT, my idea is why doesn't everyone tailgate in front of the courthouse and then move the party to the parking lot? I'm sure you will get some attention and hopefully some answers. :D
