Is Boston Really the #1 Buffett Town?

Post by Goodman »

Friends n Neighbors

Yes we know JB has been good to Boston, but is the reverse true?

For those of us who paid attention on Sunday morning at COBO or learned their Buffett history from Steven Eng- this is just review. For others just Hush puppy.

Summer 1974 and Come Monday is moving up the charts bigtime for JB. It gets airplay in Beantown but a secret cabal of Dave Loggins sycophants conspire to bring Please Come to Boston up to push Monday into next week. The song never achieves the true hit status it rightly deserves.

I was there, not yet a Parrothead but radio-tuned. Please Come was on my sing list that summer and not Come Monday.
I know Jimmy Buffett, Jimmy Buffett is a friend of mine. Son, you're no Jimmy Buffett!

Which is funny, because its a song about a guy from Tennessee.   Boston is just the first line of the song.

But if we were to judge the #1 town based on which threads get the most activity, I would have to say that Vegas or Alpine would be the #1 Buffett town.

Come Monday was a major hit in the Seattle area, Jimmy always thanks Seattle for that when he plays here.

Let's face it. We would all like to think OUR town is the #1 Buffett town. The truth is, what ever town Buffett is currently is seems to be the #1 Buffett town. He loves all the places he goes, but I am sure some are more special to him than others. The website proves that the Bufftett legions are truly international!

I was about 5 or 6 when Come Monday was played on the radio. I remember hearing it a ton on the AM radio in my dad's car.
And Yes Boston is the best place to see Jimmy...He Loves us

He likes Dallas so much he named a song after it.
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

I think that the Florida panhandle and South Alabama has got to be up there. Very understated, but a true love and understanding of a native son. Bubba may not play there often but his lyrics and writing go there often. 8) Speaking of which, anyone been by the Flora-Bama lately? The rumor of its destruction was greatly exagerated, but beyond that, I've heard nothing.

Maybe you need to actually listen to the words... Last time I head that song I could've sworn he said...

"If you ever get the chance to go to Dallas, take it from me... Pass it by. Cause you'll only sing the blues down in Dallas... Take it from me, don't go and cry...

I've got an idea... lets all buy a big chunk of land, secede from the states and then we can be our very own buffett utopia.
