I don't blame NY in this case. If Mazzone wants to stay in Atlanta and was really that loyal he would have told NY and Balt. he was not interested. He is still under contract to Atlanta so they had to give him permission to talk to other teams, and they did. If they didn't want him to leave they could have said No and/or offered him a LT deal.

I'm not so sure Mazzone would have guru-like success in Big Apple.Caribbean Soul wrote:OMG!BottleofRum wrote:As scary as this sounds, I agree.Caribbean Soul wrote:From what I've read, the Braves won't give Mazzone more than a one year contract, and his agent is in talks with the Orioles too. Remember, his greatest success has been with young pitchers that were groomed in ATL system.
Do you think he would make such an immediate impact??

Like Greg Maddux (Cubs) or John Smoltz (Tigers)?Lightning Bolt wrote: I'm not so sure Mazzone would have guru-like success in Big Apple.

Just kidding. I think you are right about the YOUNG part of that. But veterens have a tendancy to want to do things their own way, and Mazzone's program (which includes throwing every day) is different to a vet.

Well a little bit of news from Yawkee Way, The Red Sox let Dale Sveum leave to become the 3rd base coach for the Brewers.
Needless to say this is GREAT NEWS for the Red Sox and bad news for AL Outfielders!

Talks broke off between the Yankees and Mazzone..........He is great friends with Sam Palazzo so the o's could have a great shot.........and who does Girardi hire!!!Caribbean Soul wrote:Pssst ... Heaven forbid the Yankees actually try and build their own team. Just go out and buy what's been working for everyone else. Do they even HAVE a farm team?CaptainP wrote:This is why I HATE the Yankees and George Steinbrenner.....the arrogance.
Now that pitching coach Mel Stottlemeyer has left the team, Steinbrenner is targeting Braves pitching coach Leo Mazzone to replace him.
Mazzone has loyally served Bobby Cox for a long, long, time, and has never shown any inclination that he would like to leave. But George thinks, "We're the Yankees, we can have anyone we want" so he believes that Mazzone will throw out long-time loyalties and jump ship, just because they are the Yankmees.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

They are going nuts in Houston!!!!
Nope...our wonderful cable company chose to NOT put Houston news on tonight. We usually get Channel 11. I'm watching on Fox tho. Bring on that champagne.springparrot wrote:Do you get the Houston TV stations???conched wrote:You better know I stayed away on purpose!!!! Got my rally cap on.
