Buffett #5 money maker of 2004
This morning on the Howard Stern show, Robin was doing a news story on the top money making music acts of 2004. Robin said that Jimmy came in at #5 with 36.5 million dollars. Howard called Jimmy a genious!

From the NY Post (probably where Stern got it) -
And don't make fun of Parrotheads — they stash their green where Jimmy Buffet is. The "Margaritaville" man, in fifth place, took home $36.5 million from concerts, his "License to Chill" album and his chain of retail stores, nightclubs and restaurants.

Was looking at the NYPost online and can't find the article. I'm curious about the rest of the top 10 (e.g. is it across all entertainers or just musicians?) and what the numbers are. Any help with a link?? Thanks.

DID THEY MISSPELL it? or is it just your typo? It would figure if a paper didn't get it right!Lou_A1A wrote:From the NY Post (probably where Stern got it) -

Oh so many things I can’t remember
And way too many things I can’t forget
What time does church begin? Tell the priest I’m checking in
I want to cleanse my soul so I can do it again and again and again and again

I wonder if Jimmy helped out Prince with his "Purple Rain" rendition of WDWGDAS?!!
Jimmy's production costs probably aren't very low, given the number of Coral Reefers and Reeferettes, but I'll bet it's a well-run enterprise. His ticket prices are also quite reasonable when compared to many others (kind of nice). Given the scalper market for Buffett shows as well as how fast they sell out, he could easily increase prices and make more $s. I'm glad he seems happy with his mere $36.5.

A little disapointing.........
..........................I would have thought he would have brought in more....
...There is no doubt however that he can bring in a lot more..
It is a lot and I am sure he is very happy and comforatable with that figure...

"Jimmy Buffett... Anybody that could get people to spend money on that crap has got to be a genius... Jimmy Buffett... 42 million dollars... The guy is a GENIUS!!"
Yeah, he said "42 million" even though Robin said "36.5 million" and he definitely referred to JB's music as crap.
