Does anyone have any memories of Buffett's tour in 1981. I saw him in San Jose in August and had a great time but don't remember any specifics of the show. It might have been that it was the first concert that sold drinks and I could buy them.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I was at the Dallas show. It was held in the Dallas County Convention Center. He didn't even fill the floor and that's a small venue by todays standards. I remember him begging people from the lower balcony to come down to the floor. I vaguely remember a telephone booth and palm trees on stage. There were about 6 of us there together and each had a flask of tequila and other concert goodies with us. Maybe that's why it's such a haze......

The first night in Chicago my date and her friends wouldn't shut up during the show, so I left her stranded at Poplar Creek. The next night with "the boyz" I was so wasted I left without the three guys who had gotten a ride from me. I was two for two that year. Very soon after, I (by court order) decided moderation was the key. Couldn't hear the songs on night 1, can't remember them from night 2, so I guess as usual, I'm no help.

My first show wasn't until 83? I think Fingers was in rehab because he had a cardboard cut out of Fingers on the stage.

See there are brief glimpses of the late 70's and early 80's that were not erased from my memory banks

I was there! Yea, I have got MOST of the ticket stubs from the Jimmy shows I have seen over the years. Count is up to 25, with a few shows' tickets ruined on the beer soaked hills at the back of so many stadiums.
I saw Bubba in '81. It was March16 at my alma mata James Madison University (Harrisonburg, VA in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, and now home to the 2004 NCAA I-AA Football Champions!)
Ticket stub shows I paid $7.50! He played in Godwin Hall, a 5,000 seat campus basketball arena. That was my third show at the time.
And what do I remember? It was college. Give me a few years of sobriety and the fog may lift. Aw, what the hell, why bother.

The 1981 concert was at the Center for Preforming Arts in downtown San Jose. It was relatively new and I don't Shoreline existed yet. I think the first Shoreline concert was the Floridays tour about 1987.
I feel better that my memory isn't any worse than a lot of others out there.

I saw him at Kings Dominon amusement park outside of Richmond. It was a Saturday afternoon show that started around 5. They sold beer and I do remember him singing "God's Own Drunk". It would be 12 years later until I heard him sing that song again. The '93 show was at Merriweather and they sold beer there as well.

I saw him on the Somewhere Over China tour that year at Carowinds. There was a terrible thunderstorm so the the show was put off for a few hours until it blew over.
