Which "Live" CD do you like best?

Post by JustaPHan »

I've seen several JB live CDs and only can buy one at this time. Do you guys have a preference? Or are they pretty much similar? THANKS

Are you talking about the live "recorded" C.D.s, or the live concert C.D.s?

If you mean the live RECORDED ones, they're all three great, but I'd probably choose "Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays," simply because it's the most recent. I also like "You Had To Be There" because it's the only one of the live C.D.s without that G.D. CHEESBURGER IN PARADISE on it.

If you mean the live CONCERT C.D.s, for me, it's a no-brainer. Live In Hawaii would be my first choice, although I would never turn my nose up at the others either. The song selection is about the same on all, with a few minor exceptions, i.e., on the "Live In Auburn" (Seattle) C.D., he does "The Wind Cries Mary," in tribute to Jimi Hendrix, who was from that area.
All of the live concert C.D.s have a copy of his hand-written set list, with the exception of the Hawaii disc, but that one comes with a bonus DVD of a few of the songs he did there.

Bottom line-it's JIMMY BUFFETT, and you'll no doubt be happy with any one you choose.

i personally love feeding frenzy, just love the type of sound the band was making during that time. However tuesdays, thursdays, saturdays and you had to be there are amazing.

i only have cincy and las vegas for the tiki tim tour cds, both are great. as said in the previous post, you wont be disapointed with any of the live cds.

I think You Had To Be There, which captures Jimmy in his early days and before all the fame hit. Just a wonderful CD. TT&S has grown on me a bit over they years but I remember being highly disapointed with it when it came out. Didn't capture the energy of a Jimmy concert.

The Auburn , WA show had a nice mix of songs, but these have a low recording volume compared to Jimmys other cd's. The liner notes for songs leave a little to be desired. What I would like is a live WHOLE show on a 5.1 dolby DVD. And while they are at it,why hasnt a DVD of Live By The Bay been released yet? Or even a mini-matinee #2 DVD yet?

"You Had to Be There"
Hands down. I first heard it when it first came out. I was in high school, a friend said you have to hear this. So he twists a number and I was hooked. (on Buffett not the other) His was a record. I bought it in cassette, wore out my first cassette. I still listen to the second cassettes I bought. I need it on CD though. Oh I would love the vinyl version to go with my collection, just haven't found it yet.
Please don't say manana if you don't mean it.

Alpine

Post by last_mango_in_paris2002 »

Alpine Valley August 2002 for bootlegs. A close 2 and 3 are 03 and 04. I'm partial because I was there, they sound good and bring back awesome memories.

Hawaii for the mailboat ones.

I haven't heard a concert yet I haven't liked though. I can get pretty shaat faced listening to them especially in the winter wishing it was july and I was on the lawn at Alpine. My favorite day of the year and #1 summer priority.
