Best Beer?

I've been drinking rum, tequila, ect. for several years now, but have never liked beer. I had a revelation a couple weekends ago in Nashville and suddenly aquired a taste for Bud Light! Anyways, I've tried and liked Amber Bock and Budweiser. So, what is your favorite beer? What do you suggest trying?

uhhh... dude...

Bud Light is like sex on the beach...

it's $%#$%# really close to water.

Budweiser itself is not that much better, and that comes from someone who drank Bud for years until microbrews got cheap enough to hit the grocery stores.

Amber Bock is pretty good for a big brewer product.

Head over to the nearest liquor/beer outlet in your neighbourhood. Explain your problem to the guys working there. It will be the start of a wonderful adventure.

(one other note: if they sell you a bottle of San Miguel (out of the Phillipines? that funny taste isn't beer gone bad, it's the formaldehyde they use to preserve it in the heat...)

Cheap - Leinenkugel's or Amber Bock
Concert - whatever good local micro I can lay my hands on the morning of the show, or Negra Modelo
Top Shelf - Guinness, Bert Grant's porter, Shakespeare Stout, Full Sail Centennial Stout, Smith's Taddy Porter and Oatmeal Stout (I seem to get a lot of porters and stouts.. hmm...)

and for the person who said Sam Adams is on the bad list:

their Boston Ale is pretty good, and their Cream Stout goes down way too smooth and fast.

It's the beer that makes Charm City charming... or at least fuzzy enough around the edges you don't notice the details. :D

Oh give it up, a beer drinker that likes Bud is like a hamburger lover that thinks mcdonalds makes a great burger. No offense, but damn. Now if you want a great beer try a Paradise Brewing Company Winter Ale. Ok you have to show up to the Tiki Bar in my backyard to get it, but after trying it 9 out of 10 Bud drinkers agree that Budweiser sucks.

I'm just learning to like beer as well- I absolutely love Rogue Hazelnut. It's dark beer, but doesn't have a bitter or burned taste like Guinness or every other dark beer I've tried. And I love the Warsteiner Heffewiesen (I only know to order a liter of Hef, no idea if I'm spelling it correctly or even if I know the whole word!) It's an unfiltered wheat beer with half a lemon floating in it- it has a cinnamon-y almost antiseptic taste. Good stuff though.

if you need to float fruit in it, it isn't good beer. :D
