I might have to do a drunk run through the drive-thru at Guthrie's one night too. Does anybody else have any other suggestions of what to do or where to go? What are the best restaurants and clubs in Panama City? What else would be a short day drive from Destin to visit?
Dont' waste your time.i'm not knocking Lulu's, but you are right where you want to be.and I love Gulf Shores...spend your time checking stuff out in Destin/Ft Walton.....I really like the Air Force Museum at glin AFB...talk about air power

Go to Destin instead of PCB. Much, MUCH nicer. More expensive though. PCB is more of a touristy spring break kinda place, though they're trying to rid itself of that reputation

Yeah, Destin's cool....almost TOO cool! It sure has exploded in growth in the past 20 years. Has a lot of foofoofancy to it, but also affordable places. I think Bob needs to go to Pananamamarama, though, because he is a student and needs to whoop it up!

forgot about that part....being a student or recent grad. As a student, I would definitely go to PCB. As a guy who wanted to go on vacation, I would go to Destin.

I had the opportunity to move to Destin for work (my company has an office there) and get a big raise....but my wife didn't want to move to Destin because it was too close to her dad :x :x :x

We've got a beach house booked for that week in Destin. We're gonna take it easy on the beach during the day and party at night! We'll drive over to Panama City Beach a night or two to hit the clubs. However, I like going on a day trip or two while I'm down there to see stuff. Any suggestions?

there's really nothing in the area to take a day trip without driving 7 or 8 hours one way. The only thing in the panhandle is Destin and PCB.

Drive West on 98 about 20 miles past the east past bridge of Destin.. you will see another bridge on your left leading out to Navarre Beach...turn left....Juana's Pagodas is on your immediate right as you come down off the bridge......get there an hour before sunset...you may NEVER leave... I didn't...

Well, I'm back. What a great week! The weather was beautiful and the house we rented was great! I got to eat seafood at The Back Porch, Pompano Joe's, and AJ's, which were all awesome! The "Bimini Bash" drink at AJ's was incredible! If I would have had any more, I would have forgotten who I was. The last night we went to a place called McGwire's Irish Restaraunt and Pub. We had to wait over an hour for our table, so I spent it at the bar. The "Irish Wake" rivaled the "Bimini Bash", and their owned micro-brewed red beer was awesome! The pool in our neighborhood was right beside the house we rented, and we were pretty much the only ones to use it all week. It was great, and I wish I was still there. Here is a pic of our group on Friday...................

The Back Porch had some awesome seafood! Do you think it would be worth driving over to Gulf Shore to go to Lulu's? I think it would be over a 2 hour drive.

Is it McGuires? The one with the moose on the wall, where the guy sings the song, "Kiss the moose, kiss the moose, kiss the moose", by the bridge in the little shopping center? I love that place, the bar is in the central part of the restaurant and the women's bathrooms have a mens sign and vice versa for the men's...if you sit where you can see the bathroom doors, the newbies to the place make it interesting! I got so polluted on that drink that they bring to you in a mason jar (I forgot the name of it), that I kinda did a "pole" dance (the poles in the bar part), and hubby had to get me out of there before I REALLY did a pole dance.   What can I say? The music was really good!

p.s...Bob, did you make it to Lulu's?

Yeah, I guess it is McGuires. The guy did sing the "Kiss the Moose" song. I've got a pic of me kissing the moose that I'll try to post on here sometime soon. The drink you're talking about is called the "Irish Wake" and you talk about a good drink! I had one right when I walked in the door. They let you keep the jar it comes in, but I was so lit after drinking several more beers after drinking it that I forgot when I left to take the glass with me. I was definately being laughed at by the people around the bathrooms when I went. Lets keep in mind I was highly intoxicated, and I just bust through the door that I thought was the Men's bathroom and didn't even notice the sign on the inside door. I didn't realize I was in the women's bathroom until I was all the way in there and there were a bunch of women standing at the sink. I just started laughing and walked out.
I did not make it to Lulu's. We did drive over to Navarre beach one day and had a Margarita at Juana's Pagodas, but that's as far west as we went. My friends didn't really care anything about going, and gas was like $2.20 or more. I had a great time, though. Thank you all for all the suggestions.

Omigosh....that's it! The 'Irish Wake'...man, they taste so non-liquory they sneak up on you big time! Did the guy sing the
Dough, the stuff I use to buy my beer,
Ray, the guy who brings me beer,
Me, the guy who drinks the beer,
so on? Hilarious....I wanna see that picture of you kissing the moose. What did you NOT do to have to do that? Can you imagine the cooties on that thing? :x
