lisa davis,
Amnesia?, Hell, I'd be standing on tables takin' off my clothes! Hopefully amnesia for those forced to watch. Grain just brings out the burlesque in me.

Hey Juicy! I'm loving all these fabulous ideas for jello shots. When you make yours do you follow box directions and substitute 7up for water? Then add Tequila? We have Alpine Valley coming up and I can't wait to share these tastey treats with my fellow parrotheads!!

AlCohalic: ^^'s WAY up to you! I've GOT to try that one!!
Hoov: when you're making them, you can use either the regular boiling water, or you can boil a soda of your choice to try a different flavor (ginger ale works well, & someone else said that Coke can be used also). Chill the liquor.
Juicy: I just saw you asked about availability on Cruzan. I don't think you'll have a problem finding it. It's at the state liquor store. I never thought about it before, but I don't think it's a regional thing. Let me know if you don't find it, I'll send it to you! ^^'s up ya'll!!

What's a state liquor store?

Juicyfruit,
In PA the state controls the disribution of booze.
They're know as "State Stores". Before the days
of drivers licenses having pictures on them, You had a PLCBC (Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Card) to show for proof of age (it has always been 21 in PA). You took your notarized birth certificate with a passport sized pair of B&W photos with you to the State Store. They verified your docs and then the LCB mailed you your LCB card. But, state stores don't sell beer! You have to go a beer distributor for beer! You can image my delight after I moved to other states where you can get beer and wine/wine products in the Walmart! AND, the time-saving get beer at the liquor store perk.

Juicy: Ohio is almost like PA...you can buy beer, wine, and lower proof alcohol in almost any place now. But, for high proof (I don't remember what the actual # is for the cut-off) alcohol, you have to go to a state controlled store. No special ID, and they do also sell beer and wine at them now, but they are the only place to get the real stuff. It used to be much more tightly regulated with fewer stores. I think the regulations have eased up lately, as there are more outlets now and they may not even be spcifically state run any more...but the name sticks. If you want liquor in OH, you go to the 'State Store'. Didn't realize that was a regionalization. I thought everybody had to put up with it! How did the Midori and other combinations work out? Any semi-true stories for us? ^^'s up!

...it was too much tequila, or not quite enough...

Ohio & Capt. Toni: Wow, I didn't realize how lucky I was to be able to buy the rum for my jello shots where I buy the Jello! People in California would ACT UP if they had to go to that much trouble to get alcohol. We buy it all at the grocery store!

The jello shots were good, but the color was kind of bizarre. I tried the watermelon jello with midori and rum. We spent the day by the pool and had a great time.

NOTE TO THOSE WITH CHILDREN: Kids get very jealous of adults possessing cooler looking jello than they are getting. Appropriately cool looking jello with no alcohol should be prepared in clever containers so that they do not feel left out. I learned the hard way that EVERYONE likes to slurp jello out of a dixie cup!

If people want really strong jello shots, I would reccomend using Everclear or your basic grain alcohol... I have found it is the only way to go...

However, I am not sure if you can get Everclear in all states... I know you can not buy it in NY.

I have also developed Gummy shots by melting down gummy product and adding the Everclear...

any questions... please email...

Jello

Post by emilia3243 »

One of my favorite drinks is vanilla vodka w/ orange pop. It tastes like a cremesicle (yummy). So I decided to try vanilla vodka w/ orange jello & they were a HUGE success.
there's a thin line between Saturday night & Sunday morning..........

I just tried lime jello, sprite and bacardi limon. Will let you know how they turn out.
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

The lime jello - large box sprite and bacardi limon were great. Boil the sprite instead of water, add the bacardi as the cold water

I also tried Orange jello, orange fanta or other orange soda and Vanilla vodka. Very good.
