YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"If it doesn't work out there'll never be any doubt that the pleasure was worth all the pain."
I was one of those who did not really like Jack Johnson and really for no apparant reason. But after hearing a few of his songs I like him and will have to get some of his stuff.
His stuff is pretty laid back sounding, almost reggae-like, at least the few songs I've heard.
The message of "The Horizon has been defeated" reminds me of "Prince of Tides"

Here's a bio. I have friends who really like him, but I haven't heard him yet. Gotta get some of his cds. I really like the artists who aren't on the radio every 5 minutes and who aren't on the cover of all the crap magazines. Mr. Buffett "never" won a big award...yes he got the Country Music awards and all that, but what defines him can be found in the Box Set, et. al. Not just his recent stuff. My 2 cents.
In an interview, Jack said he wasn't very familiar with Jimmy's music but a friend did a cool cover of "Margaritaville" that tuned him in. I think it grew into a mutual admiration given their interests in surfing. This cover totally makes this tour the most exciting in years. His other covers are great but they are all much older songs. This is very hip.
I really loved Jack's "Brushfire Fairytales" cd when it came out. Then, I moved to Hawaii and the music made even more sense. His style captures the style of the islands in a way that can not be reproduced in a Nashville studio no matter how many blue chairs you sit in. I'm a little surprised more people don't know his music. The first cd was all over the radio when it came out three years ago. I think "Flake" was the biggest hit.
does Jack actually mention beaches, bars, boats and basically everything us parrotheads like or is every thing kinda deep?
btw I was waiting for someone to slam Kenny.
Again, why does it have to be a competition?
Me, I feel no need to do that, especially if what they're doing is positive and sounds good.
The more island music the better.
