Beach House on the Moon

Post by ParrotheadGator »

It's been my most listened to Buffett album in the last few years. I absolutely love it...just something so relaxing about the tunes...

Beach House on the Moon is my favorite, probably one of my all-time favorite Buffett songs.

The saxophone in Flesh and Bone is awesome, Semi-true story, pacing the cage, i don't know nad i don't care.....

what a great album :pirate:

I think it was Buffett's return to songwriting form, even if it took Mac to write 'em for him. I'm thinking mainly "Semi-True Stories" here but it's by no means the only outstanding track on the record.

no...I love every one I have...which is almost every one...I know I don't have the christmas album and I skipped on some of the compilation cd's because I have the songs elsewhere...

I just really dig this album.

Aside from that one, A1A and Floridays are my favorite albums :pirate:

Gator - GET the compilations! Unique songs on BBB&B (Domino College especially) make it worth the price tag.

MMIM give us new looks at way old favorites.

Concert albums (and bootlegs) always capture a different dynamic.

The Aussie import (Pirates Treasure?) is a great mix of 'true' PH songs (OPH Living and Dying in 3/4 time) . MUCH better than SYKBH! and all on a single disk. Great to give to a friend as a roadmap to Mville!

(and you can score these on ebay or half.com for half the original price..)

Just my 2 cents...

You missed the opportunity for a shameless request for help. $$$$ For example: I had planned to broaden my PH experience but have been impeded by my lack of funds. Can any of my PH friends help me out by sending me Buffett CDs or by sending a small donation to the "Help me broaden my Horizons Fund". Who knows, I have heard of people that have shamelessly raised thousands of dollars with such requests on the internet. Hell, the send me money or I'm gonna kill and eat the bunny guy raised 15 grand before being shut down.

Just a thought, one PH looking out for another. Good luck on getting the extra money needed to buy more CDs.

I also like Beachhouse on the Moon, especially Lucky Stars.

Sometimes when you only have that one CD to listen to, it becomes a part of you. Try just listening to that one CD over and over and over.

I didn't have anything but You Had To BE There for a long, long time. I listened to it over and over. I'm surprised I liked it so much, because I like Jimmy's albums better than compilations...albums are like a little slice of his life.

Then I got OPH and Fruitcakes and every song seemed to be internalized during a long time of listening to just those.

Another couple I listened to for a week straight while driving to the Keys from Texas was A1A and Floridays. Those cds became tied to the places and experiences in my trip.

Barometer Soup tho is the ONE cd that I looked forward to the most and listened to the most.

I guess if you have been a Buffett fan and bought his albums as they were released you experienced the same internalizing of the music when you just had that one new CD... but I only started listening in 1994.

Maybe it's the Gator/Seminole thing but this is my least favorite album. I've tried to block it from my memory and it's the only cd not on my i-Pod.

thats the great thing about individual tastes, you can like anything you want and all someone else can say is 'i dont like it'

and hey, if it wasnt SYKBH many people wouldnt even know who JB is. plus that album has some good songs...most notably a pirate looks at 40

Not necessarily. I know plenty of people that know who Buffett is that don't even own Songs You Know By Heart.

How can you not love the line, "it was too much tequila, or not quite enough"

if it helps, my favorite overall album is Floridays :pirate:

About once a year I try and listen to BHOTM and give it another chance to make it into my rotation. And each time it doesn't do anything for me. I haven't lost hope since I first listened to the album, but it sure has collected a lot of dust. Thanks parrotheadGator and the others for this year's inspiration to give BHOTM another chance.

and . . . he went to paris, grapefruit/juicyfruit, pencilthin mustache, cilcia, margaritaville, volcano . . . its got tons of good songs, all it needs to have removed from it is boat drinks and instead replace that with OPH and it would be a really great album
