Iko Iko
Going back to my college Deadhead days, this was one of my favorite Grateful Dead songs. I think it would be a great cover song, and it would flow really nicely with Volcano. It could also work as one of the pre-show songs before Jimmy takes the stage, along with Hot Hot Hot...
Has JB ever played this before? (Lyrics from Sing365.com)
My spy boy saw you spy boy sittin' by the bi-yo
My spy boy told your spy boy, "I'm gonna set you flag on fi-yo."
I said, "Hey now," "Hey now,"
Aiko Aiko all day, jockomo feeno na na nay, jockomo feena nay.
My grandma and your grandma were sitting by the fire
Said my grandma to your grandma, "Gonna get your tail on fire."
I said, "Hey now," "Hey now,"
Aiko Aiko all day, jockomo feeno na na nay, jockomo feena nay.

It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

I didn't even realize it was in Rain Man...now I'm wondering how many brain cells I have left
Was it really though? Maybe I'll rent it this weekend - it's a good flick and I haven't seen it in a really long time.

It wasn't the Dead version. Of course now I'm going to go crazy if I don't look it up and find out.
OK, here it is. Traditional song performed by the one and only "Belle Stars."

It's the first song on the soundtrack and, if memory serves, it is also in one of the opening sequences of the movie (but I haven't seen it in a long time, so don't quote me on that)

My 16 month old is named Jack and I call him Jackomo to steal a word from that song (deadhead, guilty).
According to Bobby Weir, "jockomo feena nay" means kiss my ass

The first version I heard of it was by the Wild Tchoupitoulas. The next version I heard was by the Neville Brothers on their Fiyo On The Bayo album where they coupled it with the song "Brother John". David Lindley also performed it this way on his second album with El Rayo-X called Win This Record! Then of course, there's the Dixie Cups and Dr. John versions. I agree, it'd be a lovely addition to Buffett's set but I'd almost rather hear him play some lesser known Buffett songs instead.

Believe it was the Dixie Cups version in the movie... she was running along the canal and Uncle Stosh picks her up and brings her to the "we beat the rap" party.citcat wrote:OK, who sang it in the movie, "The Big Easy"???
Hint: it was one of the groups mentioned in Jahfin's post.
