When your mom calls you at work to tell you your Uncle Steve has finally passed away due to a long-fought battle with cancer AND someone steals the license plate off your car!!!!! Especially on a night when you have a half-million things going on!!
Uncle Steve is in a much better place now and his death was expected. He's spent the last month in hospice care and in relatively little pain. He's actually my cousin, but grew up with my mom like a brother, therefore "Uncle" Steve. If you can, send some good thoughts to his wife, son, and grandchildren. They live in Spirit Lake, IA.
It was a fabulous day, all day long. Beautiful weather, a breeze at work, Victoria had her real-live stage debut tonight as Rabbit in a Winnie the Pooh play at our local theatre.
But Matt met me at the theatre for her performance, and someone had stolen the license plate off our car while it was in a parking garage near my office. The parking garage is right across the street from my office. We usually park it in the "hood" about 12 blocks away because it's only $1 a day to park, but today we parked the car close so we could get out of downtown quickly for the big night.
The whole rear license plate. Gone. Filled out a police report
All is mostly well now. We'll get a new license plate tomorrow and hopefully this will all get sorted out. Victoria was stellar in her performance (I'm sure you'll see her on Broadway in about 15 years)!!!
Thanks for letting me vent!
