TOMMY VANCE DIES

Post by PHBeerman »

Ex-RADIO 1 DJ TOMMY VANCE has died after suffering a stroke.

The DJ, who was 63, died in Kent in the early hours of this morning (March 6), according to his agent Jon Roseman.

Roseman told BBC news: "He was a great bloke and he was held in very high regard for his knowledge of rock which was unsurpassed. I had known Tommy for 35 years. He certainly had one of the most recognisable voices on radio."

Radio 1 controller Andy Parfitt has also paid tribute. He said: "Tommy Vance was a great broadcaster. He presented for many years on Radio 1. He will be sadly missed by listeners and fellow DJs alike."

As well as his work with the BBC on their radio and TV outlets, Vance had presented shows on Virgin Radio and VH1.
