Nissan or Radio Margaritaville

I wish Jimmy well on his stadium tour but I going to sit out the stadium shows. I am an older bald lawn person. I can't imagine how bad it would be in any stadium. If the show is at Nissan I'll spend my usual small fortune on tickets and tail gating. If the DC area gets a stadium show, I'll spend my time with a local Parrothead Club and Jim Morris.
Just thought I'd vent. I'm irritated that they haven't announced the schedule yet and that it appears to be a stadium show. I'm disappointed that Jimmy's ego and cash flow need that.

I don't like the idea of a stadium tour either, but if it means a show in Knoxville then....COOL!!

I think he just wanted to cut back on his touring. If this is the case, then I think stadiums are better, don't they hold more people?

I too feel your pain, both geographically (having to go to Philly to see a show this year), monetarily ($46+ for the cheapest seats, although we got $86+ seats), and sonically (I'm not looking forward to the stadium sound). However, seeing Jimmy is a summer tradition that I'm not willing to stop (although he might within a few years).
I'm somewhat looking forward to a different experience this year in Philly, maybe Nissan Pavilion on a grander scale. But depending on the level of enjoyment, I may go your route next year if Jimmy duplicates his "stadium tour" again.

I too am passing on the stadium tour....so if there is no Nissan show, I will be having a PH party at home and listening to the show over RM....I guess it is better then nothin' (diffently much better then a stadium show)....just can not bring myself to do the stadium thing again, especially for a Buffett show....just would not be the same....

To those who are boycotting the stadium shows - thank you from all of us who aren't so picky for allowing us to get our tickets easier!

You beat me to it Frank. I'd love to see Jimmy play Jones Beach every year, but he doesn't anymore. I'd love to see him do 2 shows at Jones Beach, but he hasn't done that since 1993. Since his management company selfishly didn't clear the dates and venues with me first I'll just have to go where he decides to play instead of where I want him to play.

Amen, Larry. I just never understood the "cut off my nose to spite my face" mentality, but I'll sure as hell take advantage of it when I can!

What a bunch of Bastards.
Stadium or small venue.
Who cares? The tailgate is still the same.

Maybe I have a different perspective on the situation. Instead of trying to find reasons not to like a stadium show, I'm looking for reasons to like it. I've only gone to 2 stadium shows in my life - Jackson/Strait/Buffett in Texas Stadium and Buffett in Fenway Park. I had a great time at both of them. Maybe it was the people I was at the show with, maybe it was because it was Buffett, most likely it was a combination of both. Life is what you make it. If you're expecting to be disappointed, you probably will be. Most of my old girlfriends were.
edit: I had a senior moment. I've actually been to 4 stadium shows, I saw Springsteen twice at Shea Stadium in Oct., 2003.

I don't think I've ever been to a stadium for a concert. I do know however, that with the group I'm going with, not having fun will not be an option.

Oooh! Where's the blankie picture! Come on! Come on! Do it! Do it!
And my comment on the issue at hand...some of us are not as fortunate to have multiple shows within driving distance. I probably wouldn't whine about a stadium show and just go. It's always better live and the company is better. It gets lonely clicking my own mouse all the time.

True, but that's fun for the rest of us

I'm not too crazy about seeing Jimmy at PNC Park- but what are ya gonna do? Sure... I could throw a Buffett party out back by the pool, but what would I be proving by doing that? The pholks that are boycotting the "stadium" tour this year are only hurting themselves. While I dont think PNC will be anything close to Starlake, I'm going into this with an open mind. The sight of Jimmy playing against the skyline of Pittsburgh, will be awesome. The drive home will be much easier and faster. The tailgating will still be great (this is pittsburgh-HOME of the tailgate). The high price of tickets may keep alot of the non PH's away (aka drunken buffoons), so that in itself is a plus. Let's just be thankful that we have a summer show, and it's on a weekend. Let's also hope for a return to Starlake next summer.

Not boycotting

I started this thread and this isn't a boycott. I just don't think it will be fun. For me. I hope you all get tickets and have a ball. If my staying home helps you get a ticket, so much the better.
I'm a lawn person and stadiums don't have lawns.
