i have a really horrible professor for my e-commerce class. well, we have to build a website for a product, service, or personal info (im going to do a charter fishing service). most professors grade a student's project on their own product. not this one. she takes the best one in the class and uses it as a standard for everyone else!!

basically i need to build a professional looking website; one that looks REAL. (and it has to be the best one!). one more thing, it has to be free (the poor college student thing). i really need some help, my graduation depends on it! any suggestions, ideas, or anything would be greatly appreciated. the first thing i really need though is a hosting service (i dont think geocities will cut it) thanks :pirate:

start by checking out some sites on the web for ideas and what they display. PM key limel ee and see if he's willing to offer a few pointers.

Try going here: www.htmlgoodies.com

Lots of free online lessons that get right to the point. It teaches lots of neat tricks you can pull off with Javascript. Of course, you really don't need to learn loads of HTML code, as you probably use a program such as FrontPage.

A really neat thing that I want to learn how to do one of these days is image mapping, which will aid in the creation of a good eye candy site.

If you really want to get into making something impressive, put some splash or swish into the pages.

Anyway, the best method I always use this: When you see a site doing something really neat that you want your site to do, stop, right click and view source and search the soruce code for how that specific trick is pulled off and incorperate that into your own code.
