A condemned murderer on Texas' death row who was scheduled to assume room temperature later this afternoon was given a reprieve five hours prior to his scheduled appointment with "Sparky". Apparently ANOTHER unelected, unaccountable judge decided the jury instructions were incorrect after 15 years.
1) Execution stayed by mental illness claim

2) An Item About Judge Terry Means

Does anyone see any irony in this?? A convicted killer is saved by mental illness and an innocent person with brain damage is subjected to death by intentional starvation and dehydration....

I know, I know. And I'm not so conservative that I take my marching orders from clowns like Jerry Falwell.
I also support such programs as P.E.T.A. and am a strong advocate for stopping the slaughter/clubbing to death of minks and pup seals just so some insecure a-hole can wear their furs.

Mental illness and brain damage are two entirely different things.

ooh... in that case I have a joke for you...

"a baby seal walks into a club"

ok, it's not THAT funny, but it makes me giggle like a disturbed 6 year old.

And Falwell is a no-talent ass-clown.

Just like anything there are people who take it too far. There are some crazy assed people in PETA that give the people who are really trying to help the animals a bad name...

If so I am moving there.

Probably a lot of liberal minded people in Austin. Might want to stay clear of there?

If he was convicted in district court his judge was most certainly elected.
I was flipping through the radio stations, and heard it on a local station out of Waterloo, IA (about 90 miles away).
Apparently this idiot left a half way house somewhere in Colorado in 1989, came to Texas, and killed a restaurant worker.
Since you live down there, I'm sure as the day goes on, you'll hear more about it than I have, if you haven't already.
My contention to the whole matter is-he KILLED, he should BE killed.

his exceution was stayed but I can pretty much guarantee that it will take place
The Texas attorney general's office served notice that it would ask the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reinstate the execution date.
We're talking about the state that has the HIGHEST number of executions in the whole U.S. NOBODY comes close to Texas in the number of executions. So to use this case as a basis for argument is pretty much a moot point - makes absolutely no sense to me.

no to use any execution from a state that leads the US in executions is pretty much stupid IMHO - geez the guy will be executed after all this is Texas we're talking about. You wanna talk about death row inmates not being executed talk about any state that has low execution rates not the state with the hightest. That's just plain ass stupid.

Yeah, yeah. I like my steaks & cheeseburgers as much as anyone. Probably MORE than anyone.
But, although I own several guns, I do NOT hunt.
Call me a wuss, but I just don't have it in me to look "Bambi" in the eye and pull the trigger or draw the bow.
I support the N.R.A. (obviously) but not for ME.
