A condemned murderer on Texas' death row who was scheduled to assume room temperature later this afternoon was given a reprieve five hours prior to his scheduled appointment with "Sparky". Apparently ANOTHER unelected, unaccountable judge decided the jury instructions were incorrect after 15 years.

Does anyone see any irony in this?? A convicted killer is saved by mental illness and an innocent person with brain damage is subjected to death by intentional starvation and dehydration....

Well I'd like to know who this inmate is and where you got your information. Being that I live in Texas and I haven't heard a thing about it and TRUST ME we do hear about executions and stays in the news here. Also your statement that the judge was unelected. Well how do you know that?? Since I can't find out anything on this inmate I can't determine what court he was convicted in. If he was convicted in district court his judge was most certainly elected.

I was flipping through the radio stations, and heard it on a local station out of Waterloo, IA (about 90 miles away).
Apparently this idiot left a half way house somewhere in Colorado in 1989, came to Texas, and killed a restaurant worker.
Since you live down there, I'm sure as the day goes on, you'll hear more about it than I have, if you haven't already.
My contention to the whole matter is-he KILLED, he should BE killed.

his exceution was stayed but I can pretty much guarantee that it will take place

The Texas attorney general's office served notice that it would ask the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reinstate the execution date.

We're talking about the state that has the HIGHEST number of executions in the whole U.S. NOBODY comes close to Texas in the number of executions. So to use this case as a basis for argument is pretty much a moot point - makes absolutely no sense to me.
