Yeah rent a place in South Haven, Grand haven, or Traverse city. Its closer and you wont have to deal with that awful accent.

wow - that was kinda harsh!!! haha - i used to go to the jersey shore when i was a kid and had a great time - time for a change of attitude if not so much latitude - i get tired of the midwestern michigander ultra bible thumping atmosphere around here - thanks anyway.

Morey's Pier and Mariner's Landing are doing a big half price tix sale this weekend and I think next. Go to their web site to get the deal. When's the last time you were in Wildwood? I haven't been there for a couple years but the last few times I was there it was getting a big rough around the edges. Fine for young adults but for kids, maybe not so much. If you have young kids consider Ocean City with a day trip to Wildwood for the bigger rides. Of course Wildwood has more clubs/bars while OC is dry.

I doubt it's changed much since 84. I grew up going to wildwood every summer. I still go there. It's just got some rough edges, more a college kid kind of place now. I don't go there enough to know if some sections are more kid friendly then others. We usually go and get a combo pass for Morey's Pier and Mariner's landing. Do the day with water and dry rides. Wildwood Beach is still the best, huge. They even have trolleys to transport you to the water because so many people were getting burnt feet walking down the long beach.

I'd probably just buy the crab traps and then give them to some kids before you leave. They're maybe $5. apiece for the drop kind $1. for hand lines. Unless you want to rent a little boat. They might come with the traps. When you go to the bait store they'll be able to tell you where to go crabbing. Get Mack's pizza while you are there and Kohr's custard and some good salt water taffy.
My sister comes out here every year from Chicago and these are all the things she does, plus getting a good cheese steak.

I have stayed away from WW for may years now, becuase it kinda scares me, but I have heard that there has been a conscious effort to clean it up.

Aslo, if you're looking to stay in WW, you may want to look at North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest since they are more familiy oriented then Wildwood itself.

You can also check out Cape May. Its a nicer beach town and not far from WW.

Or if you need the boardwalk, you can always take OCGirls advice and stay in Ocean City (the boards are a lot less scary!)

thanks!!! the place we booked with is in north wildwood, so i'm happy to hear it's more family oriented. we'll take our chances in WW and see how it goes - if we don't like it, we'll head the other way. basically, we're excited to have a week away from home on the beach - i can't wait to smell the salt air again....

have a great day!

You'll enjoy North Wildwood... very family oriented and much quieter the WW. We use to rent a house on 21st and Atlantic when I was growing up and always had a great time!

If you are into "Buffettesque (sp?) eateries, take a trip down to Cape May and stop by Harpoon Harry's (formerly the Whaler's Cove) one night. The resturant sits on the back bay (not far from the Cape May Ferry launch) and has outdoor seating. If you get there for seunset, you'll be able to enjoy a great burger (or fried fish) and watch the sun set over the bay. They also have over 100 frozen drinks and play music Buffett non-stop!

It is a great place for adults and kids.

Have fun down at the Jersey Shore (all this writing has me craving a Fried Flounder Sandwich and a cold beer... God, I love the summer!!!)

ahhhh naturally - i'm a big time parrothead - that's what brought me to this sight in the first place - i'm quickly becoming an adict! we're fretting over tour dates right now and where to go..... seems JB is going to be nowhere near kalamazoo this year - i don't intend on going to the wrigley field shows - tailgating will s***, and acoustics probably won't be that great either. can't imagine port-a-potties on clark or addison either :-?

thanks for the restaurant tip - we'll definately be making the trip to cape may - awesome!!!

as for summer - i LOVE it - i cry each fall when the pool comes down, and am counting the days now until we can put it back up..... *sigh* thank goodness we'll be moving to savannah, GA in a little over a year - once i'm done with school! yea!

gtg - thanks again for the info!

phins up!
