Yup...in the good old Merriweather days, Jimmy once played three nights in a row.

Great shows!

He used to do it all the time until he said he was semi retired :) and went to T, Th, Sat and would do a shortened tour schedule.

Yeah, right!

Heck, in the old days, he played two shows a night...at least that's what folklore has indicated...along with "Second Wind"

yup, he use to play several in a row. The good old days two shows Thursday Friday at the Concord Pavillion, followed by Sat Sun at Shoreling amphitheatre.. He would take a couple of days off and then play three in a row at Irvine Meadows. Followed by a couple at Hollywood bowl, and down to Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diegol. One year I saw 9 shows in 12 days. Those were the days.

I would buy two shows of lawn and one pavillion at Poplar Creek. One for a date, two for fun

i remember he used to play shoreline on saturday nite, then concord the next afternoon. i never got to see him play there. i tried once, but could not get tix. i am sure concord would b happy to have jimmy back. perhaps he might also consider the new amphitheater in marysville, near sacto and even the arco areana in sacto. that would certainly be different.

i think the next year he stopped playing concord.

I understand from some of the old-timers that he'd actually play FIVE nights in places like Cincinnati and Great Woods.
WOW! What THAT must have been like.

Well I heard a rumor it might happen this summer here in the Midwest. I was told Wrigley was not the location for the three day show. Now that I hear he did it recently makes me wonder if they could be true. I hope so. If I hear anything more I will post it. Maybe there is hope for a better venue than Wrigley this summer. Thanks for the responses.

Sorry for the late reply. After reading the new info on Alpine it makes me wonder. Ok here we go. Another Newbie rumor thread. :o Route 66 for a three day concert. http://www.chicagolandspeedway.com/cgi- ... index.html Friend of a friend type of rumor. Dates, I don't know, I don't know. My guess would be July 4th weekend. If I had first hand knowledge I would have shared more earlier. At this point all I can do is hope. Having no Alpine or tweeter to look forward to is a real bummer.

:D :D Thats almost true, but I don't think he actually did 5 shows in Cincinnati. I know there was talk of it. The talk was he was going to do the race track in Cincy and he was going to be there for 5 nights. He has done 4 shows in Cincinnati, but I don't think they were 4 in a row. Probably the reason why Cincinnatians(sp?) are feeling somewhat DEPRIVED ! :( :( :( Cincinnati was like nothing I have ever seen. When my wife an I went there for several concerts, the entire city was involved. The fast food places were offering Parrothead specials , the bakeries had parrothead doughnuts people drove around the city for days with Fins on there vehicles. The radio stations had Parrothead promotions, with all kind of giveaways. It was truely Margaritaville for the time JIMMY was there! :D :D Phins UP!
