Buffett in a movie I never heard of-how 'bout you?

Post by phjrsaunt »

So my sister in law is out of town, which means my brother goes on these internet search quests. Tonight he informs me that Jimmy Buffett was in a movie from 1986 called "Dr. Duck's Super Secret All Purpose Sauce." Of course, I figured he was pulling my leg because it is his job as my big brother to tease me. So I Google'd the title, and lo and behold! Europa! Thar she blows! Also stars Tim Curry and Whoopi Goldberg.

Anybody know anything about it?

According to IMDB he's been in a lot of stuff including the movie you mentioned (although he played himself in that)

Here are some other mentions I didn't know about where he isn't play "himself":
# "From the Earth to the Moon" (1998) (mini) TV Series .... First Journalist
# Congo (1995) .... 727 Pilot
# Cobb (1994) .... The armless guy
# Hook (1991) (uncredited) .... Shoe-Stealing Pirate
# Repo Man (1984) .... Additional Blond Agent
Here are movies where he played "himself"
# Brian Wilson: Imagination (1998) (TV) .... Himself
# Elmopalooza! (1998) (TV) .... Himself
# All-Star Concert for Montserrat (1997) (TV) .... Himself
# Music for Montserrat (1997) (V) .... Himself
# Hurricane Relief (1992) (TV) .... Performer
# Voices that Care (1991) (TV) .... Himself - Choir Member

# Doctor Duck's Super Secret All-Purpose Sauce (1985) .... Himself
# I Love Liberty (1982) (TV)

# FM (1978) .... Himself
# Rancho Deluxe (1975) .... Himself
I'm going to go out and rent Hook and Congo tonight and look for him! :D

JB was in Repo Man?!?!?!? I don't know how many times I watched that movie in the late 80's. One of the best movies ever, especially the soundtrack - very un-jimmy though.

I looked on Jimmy's IMDB page about two weeks ago and never realized that he was in Hook. So I had to dig out my VHS, and lo and behold! There he is! The duck sauce movie, sorry haven't seen it.

Man, the stuff you learn on the IMDB... That duck movie was produced by Michael Nesmith, of the Monkees.

It talked about him getting shot at and being mistaken for a drug runner. Not so much the celebrity who oopses (is that a word?), but the guys shooting at him.

My wife thought I was crazy when I rented Congo, then fastfoward through half of it. Then rolled her eyes when I watched to 10 sec spot a few times, rewound the tape, edjected it, and took it back.

Didn't Michael Nesmith tell Jimmy about the 12 Volt Man?

With all these movie credits, we can play 6 Degrees of Jimmy Buffett

That's so funny you say that! When I was talking to my brother last night, we said we could play 6 degrees of Tim Curry. Tim Curry was in the "Duck" movie w/ Jimmy, as well as in "Congo." And there was another connection that escapes me now....need caffeine.....
