Anyone been there recently? Gulf Shores and Orange Beach seem to still be in the rebuilding process....thinking of driving down next week...Destin/FWB seem in good shape....just looking for a first hand update...

We planned a trip to Gulf Shores, looked at Destin and Ft. Walton accommodations too. Most places will be fixed by April. But there were a few condos that won't be ready until summer. I keep trying to find out if the FLORABAMA will be up and running when we go, the first week of May.....does anybody know if it is repaired and ready to go?

if you count selling T-shirts and paraphanelia from a trailer in the lot open, then yes.. they are open for business.

Two weeks ago, that is all they were really doing. The original building is still open to the elements, and all openings are blocked with tape/netting to keep out trespassers. Word was they had not really made a final decision to rebuild, because it would mean having to meet all the building code requirements that they had had grandfathered.

As for the rest of Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and the coastal road, there is a lot of rebuilding. It was a bit awe-inspiring to see so much damage having been repaired, but it is not back 100% either. (Even Our Lady of the Windblown Sand across from the Island House is still missing tiles from the roof).

I'm noticing that they are pretty booked up....I know it is Spring Break but I am also guessing it is because so many hotels are closed or not operating at full capacity.

Gulf Shores, Pensacola Beach and Navarre Beach are fairly well devasted. .. Fort Walton Beach on East....(Destin, Panama, etc..) are all fine and open for normal business.
