Is American Pie the best song ever written?

Post by Fins in Low Places »

It is musically and lyrically my favorite of all time and I never tire of hearing it. I never skip it or turn the channel before the song finishes.

It's hard to have a best song written.
"Peace Train" by Cat Stevens moves me as well as "Panama" by Van Halen, hell there's probably about 10000 best songs ever written.
"Lawyers Guns and Money" etc.....oh and don't forget about a bunch of songs by some guy named Jimmy Buffett...

Is AMERICAN PIE the best song ever written? NO
Is it ONE of the best? DEFINATELY!

What do I think is the best? Far Side of the World.
(Followed by A Pirate Looks At 40, Beach House On the Moon, One Particular Harbour, et. al.).

A great song, yes. It brings back great memories of being in college, but the best ever, NO.

Not if you can't sing and pick it for kareoke (sp?)! That was the song we "performed" to for our lovely gym show in 5th grade.... It is a FUN song though!

Edit: cause it takes FOREVER

If I hear anyone try to sing it in karaoke one more time I think I'll puke.

I like the song...definitely not the best song ever. 90% of Jimmy's song top it.

No, but it was a darn funny screenplay! :D

The song reminds me of the album, which was given to my by Steve, a romantic guy with an enduring smile, who I wish I would have gotten to know better, and who I sometimes wonder what he's doing now. And now I'm trying to remember why he even gave me the album - I know it was for a song... must have been Starry Starry Night when I think about it...

Fins In Low Places, your name isn't Steve is it? :D
