Pittsburgh Hotels, strategic planning

Post by Letter of Marque »

hey pholks, I need some help. I'm coming to Pittsburgh from WNY, so from the North. We are coming in on Sunday morning and staying overnight. Should we stay a bit north of the stadium, where we may get earlier room entry, and take a taxi to and from PNC and miss the chaos of downtown? Or, should we get a more expensive hotel, w/parking fees downtown and a possible later entry to our hotel. If so, is it a quick walk from Station Square? Or should we be targeting another hotel.. I can't find any news about any parrothead club events? Where are the people from Cleveland, Buffalo, Presque Isle PA? I'd be interested in attending a suburban hotel preparty with a bus ride downtown it possible? Thoughts?.....

Can only help on one of you questions. The walk from Station Square is a pretty good hike. Over the Smithfield St. Bridge, through the point area, over the Seventh St. (?) Bridge. Probably over a mile total. Check out the post entitled "Pittsburgh 6/26" in this Pre-Concert forum. Some people there have more info.

Lived in Pittsburgh when I was a kid and go back every once in a while. I usually stay out of town at the Radisson in Greensburg (Green something) about 15 minute ride and they may have a shuttle.

Here's the other thread, but it's pretty quiet. Stop by and let's start the planning process!

We're staying at the Sheraton in Station Square. The Steel City Fins Parrothead Club is having their preparty at Margarita Mama's in Station Square Saturday night, so that sounds like the place to be.
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

You can take the subway from station Square to downtown and it is less than 10 minute walk. www.ridegold.com or take the boat over!
