Best (cheapest) ticket brokers for INDY???
It looks like I will be a customer of a ticket broker for this year's show. Are they all basically the same? Are some not as greedy as others? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm needing 2 tix in the lower pavillion.
Thanks!

stubhub.com seems to be the new kid on the block and they had the cheapest prices I found. From what I understand, it just gives people a place at advertise their tickets so I don't know how much enforcing they do to make sure you get what you pay for.

I don't know that a "cheap" ticket broker exists, do they?? I personally think it's crap that the true fans (read: Parrotheads) are limited to 8 tickets, but brokers can amass (ie.) 660 tickets
. Ebay can be a bust too, because last night someone had 2 tickets, Section C, row 9.... almost $900 listing price. OUCH!!

Tickets
Well, I was not lucky enough to purchase tickets the other day. In any event I called the same ticket place from last year. Their price for lawn tickets, $80.00, amazing.
Their story, only one show this year and they think as the date draws near lawn tickets $100.00!

Re: Tickets
I would not buy now at $80 for Indy--way too high. People get emotional when they don't get their tickets during the onsale and overpay. Add to that the fact that the Chicago shows have not been confirmed, and you have the perfect situation for people to get ripped off. Even bidders on ebay are bidding way over fair market value.Steve Seiler wrote:Well, I was not lucky enough to purchase tickets the other day. I think you could get a lawn for $50 if you are patient. By mid-April or May the rush to get tickets should subside.

I've never used them, but StubHub advertises that they stand by the sale and guarantee you get what you pay for. Sounds fair, but yes some prices seem way high.Richard wrote:stubhub.com seems to be the new kid on the block and they had the cheapest prices I found. This is the Buyer Guarantee from the stubhub web site:
What is the Buyer Guarantee?
"The Buyer Guarantee is a 100% Guarantee that you will receive the tickets you ordered, providing your transaction has been confirmed. Along with ensuring that your transactions are safe and secure, this Guarantee gives you the right to contest your purchase if you feel it has been compromised by issues regarding the tickets' shipment, validity, or even receipt."
Take it for what it's worth.

I do not agree with that at all. With all of the shows I have been to, one thing stays the same, minus a show here or there, tickets always go up in value. The show is in August not May, the rush to buy tickets will be steady on this one and will increase in value. I think now is your cheapest. I see tickets on ebay for 120 for the pair that is basically face when you factor in all the charges etc.

660 is about half of what circlecitytickets.com had when I checked them. Everybody on there was selling between 25-50 tickets. I feel like I was standing in line trying to get the last 100 seats for the show since they were already in ticket broker hands.

So how does this work? Are you saying that Ticketmaster "pre-sells" to the ticket brokers before JB's true fans get a chance to purchase? It blows my mind that a Venue the size of the Verizon Wireless Center can sell out in 10 minutes!Richard wrote:660 is about half of what circlecitytickets.com had when I checked them. Two things. First, anybody ever read something stating as to why Ticketmaster is NOT considered a monopoly?
Second, PLEASE don't pay those ridiculous prices ($80+) for tickets that are being mentioned!
The last 4 years running I've landed tickets in the last week or so before the shows (Alpine, Chicago, Indy, Cincy) from either Ticketmaster releasing unused tickets or from the ticket brokers who get somewhat worried as the concert date approaches and lower their prices. I understand most brokers don't get worried, but there are always a few and although over face they'll be much more reasonable.
I can only speak from my own experience but I agree with LastMango about waiting. Maybe its just dumb luck and I'll fail in getting our group reasonably priced tickets this time around,
but thought I would just add my experiences in for others to consider as an alternative.
Good luck to everybody in their quest for tickets no matter how you go about it!

Indy Tickets (Verizon Ampitheatre)
On Monday morning, I was logged in to Ticketmaster/Jimmy Buffett and hit refresh at exactly 10:00. I got in and requested 2 tix for "Best Available" thinking I could get a couple of decent pavillion seats, but got lawn seats instead. At first disappointed, I talked to my buddy who had done the same thing, and came away empty handed (all on high speed internet). So in less than 2 minutes, all tickets were gone, and I realized I was lucky to snag 2 lawn tix through Ticketmaster.
As far as brokers go, I hear many of them are connected, and I haven't seen a big variety in price ($80 to $100 for lawn). I don't know if Ticketmaster actually pre-releases tickets to the brokers, but the brokers have their henchmen out there buying up as many as possible. People who could care less about the shows. It's a load of you know what, but legal. So, as has become the trend with Buffett and his dwindling # of summer shows, the true fans suffer.

I used to work at a video store that had a Ticketmaster and I can tell you that the owner wouldn't open the doors until 10:00:45 and in that brief time he and/or his girlfriend manager would pump a bunch of tickets that never saw the light of day and he would sell/trade them to a broker. Granted I sometimes got "early" tickets too, but the broker always got the best tickets.
So yes, this BS happens.
He got caught doing this and was fined and no longer has the TM machine.

I've used a company named Wholesale Tickets in downtown Indy for a few different things. I don't know that they're the cheapest (but are always in the ballpark), but they're professional and have been trustworthy. Good luck!

A word to the wise. Yesterday I was talking with a buddy at lunch about concert tickets, Ticketmaster and Ticket Vendors. He has already purchased some tickets for a concert later this summer. Don't get mad, it is the KC concert.
Well my wife likes KC, not as well as Buffett, but would like to go to his concert.
When I got back to work I called the number of the broker. The broker has several boxes at Verizon that they purchase season tickets for. Then they break these box seats up and sell in pairs. The price, good location I guess, 10 rows from the stage for KC, $375.00 per ticket.
Well, I told her to listen to her KC CD's again.
So it seems that we the everyday people really never have a chance for what would perhaps be termed really good seats when it is time to purchase tickets, they are already gone.
So like many others I wonder how in the hell with as big as Verizon is it is hard to purchase tickets on the day that they go on sale.
I did get my tickets finally 7 of them, the first family Buffett Concert, my two boys, their wives, my wife and of course my 9 year old grand daughter, she is pumped.
Oh heck I guess it really does not matter what in the hell I pay for tickets, I would never stay home and protest the price of tickets and the manner in which I obtain them, life is to short, to short.
