Anyway why is it I am a Johnny come lately fan?
I'm confused at the meaning of that, I've been an active fan since '73 although I never made it to Fenway until '78
I've got some pictures I still need to scan of Yaz, Rice & Evans, etc

Most of the inhabitants of Red Sox Nation have been fans since they were born, like me.
Before you go postal on me, the Tigers are my second favorite AL team.
OTOH, if the Sox are playing the Tigers, blood is thicker than water.....

Well, most of us were right here, where we are now.PHBeerman wrote:Where were all of these members of the Red Sox nation before last year??
Sure, there are some fair-weather fans. But most Red Sox fans are loooong suffering. You have to be a real baseball fan to be a Red Sox fan (or at least you did before last year
I went to the victory parade. The coolest thing was seeing many, many groups of three generations of fans together along the street. Usually Dad in his 60's/70's, Son in his 30's/40's and Grandson, anywhere between toddler and teenager. Dad and Son often had tears in their eyes. In New England, love of the Red Sox is a birthright passed from generation to generation. To the fair weather fans, welcome aboard, but realize we've been suffering a LONG time.

And I'm a Brewers fan...talk about long-suffering, at least the Sox win more than 60 games a year!

actually I am the creator of "everything and anything baseball thread" which was created back in 2001. Most of the talk back then was also about the Sox. Funny I don't remember you talking baseball thenPHBeerman wrote:Where were all of these members of the Red Sox nation before last year??SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Now, now, be nice..... I said it back then and I will say it again, you should have put a copyright on that topic name.RAGTOP wrote:actually I am the creator of "everything and anything baseball thread" which was created back in 2001. And back in 2001 there was no Off Topic Area on BN so the baseball thread was one of the few non-Buffett topics here. It was located under Jimmy Buffett Discussions....and if I recall correct that thread lead to the creation of the BN OFF TOPIC AREA........
