Another warning RE: TicketmA$$ter

Post by skiboutins »

Hey All,

I was lucky enough to score some lawn and (outrageously priced) uncovered pavillion for the 6/20 show at GW through ticketmaster.com.

Lucky, I thought.

For a joke, I went in to check the status of the 3 orders......ends up
both 'singles' orders were cancelled by TM without warning.

I called TM to discuss this problem.....ends up they hire a third party
vendor (thus voiding TM of responsibility) to review all orders placed
for high-volume entertainers like Buffett.

I guess they have a strict 8 ticket limit per person, per event.....not
per order.......per event.

My first order was for 8 lawn seats......this order put me at my MAX
for the event....even if more tickets are available at at later date.

The nice person at TM also stated that this third party vendor has the
'POWER' to cancel ALL ORDERS from TM customers who exceed the
limit, not just the orders that are over the limit.

B*LLSH*T I say.....B*LLSH*T.

Has this happened to anyone else?

If you place multiple orders for one Buffett show, you may want to
check your account......the lack of tickets in the mail may be due to
the cancellation of your order by the powers that be called

TICKETMA$$TER.

BTW - thanks to all for the heads up on the Toronto presale....I did score 2 in Section 203.....that was easy....the hard part is convincing my wife we need to roadtrip 9 hours to Toronto in June on a Monday night.

From TM's website:
"Please adhere to published ticket limits. If we determine that a ticket limit has been exceeded, we may cancel an order, or part of an order, without notice, and may even cancel a ticket that has already been delivered, rendering it null and void without notice. "

The rules were posted. You broke them, and got busted. What's your gripe again?

 sounds fair to me. You should tell your group of friends to get off their butts and order their own tix.

This is actually what they have posted on Buffett listings:

Ticket Limit
There is an eight (8) ticket limit per person.

Please adhere to published ticket limits. Orders exceeding the ticket limit may be cancelled without notice by Ticketmaster in its discretion. This includes duplicate orders having the same name, billing address or credit card.

The key word used to be ORDERS......an individual order could not exceed the limit....basically restricted by the system.....which is fine by me. It is the second line that applies to Buffett and other big draws....the search-and-destroy of mulitple ORDERS from the same person that is new this time around.

Sorry, if it is my lucky day, I stick with it....you know....hot keyboard.

I'll deal with it....it just means two dedicated parrotheads are without tickets now.....no scalpers lost out here....just parrotheads.

I feel your pain but I think the operative word there is person - as in "8 ticket limit per person."

The rules seem pretty clear to me.

If you had used a different credit card for the second and third orders you would've gotten your tickets.

8 tickets to GW is still nothing to b**** about. If your friends want to go that badly tell them to check on ebay.

How does this explain the 30 tickest available from two sellers on E-Bay? JOHN

Even if they have a point about the rules and all that, it still sucks to hear that. Anytime someone loses chances to see JB, that's a sad day. :(

The rules are in place for a reason....the ticket agencies have multiple people working to acquire tickets for them and if this rule didn't exist, the tickets for parrotheads would be even fewer.

Like someone said before, the friends who were going to go with you need to get off their ass and make an effort as well.

This is one rule that I'm glad Ticketmaster has and personally I'm glad to hear it is being enforced.

Probably not, unless your credit cards all have different names and billing addresses.

The sellers paid a number of people to stand in line, buy tickets, and turn then over to him/her.

Rules are Rules are Rules...the only unfair thing about Rules is when they don't apply to everyone.

Let me add that I've done it recently. The limit for U2 general admission seats is 2 per person for all shows. I snagged more than that by using two different cards with the SAME billing address. I have the tickets in hand and can't wait to use them.

Personally, I'd say you're lucky to get the 8 lawn, and not have ALL of your orders cancelled. 8 tickets per person means just that - 8 tickets total. I don't understand your complaint on this one, it was pretty clear. :-?
