simon and garfunkel

Post by OceanCityGirl »

what is your fave by this duet? Do you like any of Paul Simon's solo stuff. I'm listening to their concert in central park and it just puts me in such a happy mood. And some of Paul Simon's stuff just feels like summer to me. Ex. Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes, Graceland, You Can Call me Al (which I used to love the cheezy video with Chevy)

The thing about Simon and Garfunkel is I wasn't old enough to buy music when they broke up, yet I love it. It is just timeless. This is a word I"d put to very few musicians and I like alot of styles of music.

Hmmmm so many to choose from.... Homeward Bound tops my list. I saw that concert in central park. Flew up and went with a college roommate. Quite an experience! Never saw so many people in one place in my life!

Sounds of Silence. I saw them years ago right after Paul Simon married oh what's her name, Princess Leah - anyway it was in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas and it had begun to lightly rain - when they sang Sounds of Silence you could only hear them and the rain softly beating. It was spiritual.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

A great song and a wonderful setting..

Don Henleys "Heart of the Matter"..

Boy, I love so many of their songs-Sounds of Silence, I am a Rock, Bridge, the Boxer, almost anything. What a beautiful sound.

Have seen them in concert 3 times, including an early concert (late 60's) that was them one half and the other half was the lovin spoonful. ALso have seen two Paul Simon solo concerts which I loved.

This last tour was fun-beautiful sound once again, though clearly no love lost between them-they barely could look at each other.

America is probably my favorite
"Kathy I'm lost," I said though I knew she was sleeping.
"I'm empty and aching and I don't know why."
Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike
They've all come to look for America

I saw Paul Simon in concert. Very cool. My fave solo song is probably Late In The Evening or maybe Still Crazy After All These Years .

I love all the songs mentioned. Esp. The Boxer and America. I can barely think of a song of theirs I didn't like. It's interesting that people can make such great music together and truly not like each other. And since Art doesn't really have anything going on his own it would be in his best interest to attempt to get along with his partner.

Get out. Really? How old is his son and what's the reason he's on the cover. Does he have some musical talent as well?

The cover story is about children of rock royalty, and how they cope. Gee, that must be tough 8)
