Help me..a computer idiot...
....I have not had the joy of listening to Jimmy's shows this year because I cannot figure out what is wrong with my computer. I had to reload after a crash a couple months back, downloaded Real Player, my music player of choice. But for some reason I can't get a clear connection to Radio Margaritaville or anything else. Anybody with any computer smarts have any ideas, I swear I have tried every type of connection speed.
I am dying to hear some Jimmy live and am growing as frustrated as an Alpine ticket holder.

Simple solution. Go to where you keep your tools. Select the largest sledge hammer in your collection. Smash the PC, junk it, and then go to your local Apple Store and buy yourself a G5. Quicktime Pro will solve all your connection problems, and you won't need additional recording programs to record your concerts.SchoonerWharf wrote:I have tried Windows also. It comes on, the concert starts and will play, but there are constant interruptions. It is very frustrating.

I just used the phone modem to connect and WMP player was buffering about every 5-7 seconds. It didnt used to do that. I'm not a computer expert, so I cant really say what the problem is. Sounds like it is mostly your connection, and not your computer. If you had a good stream before your "crash" try to think of anything that has changed since then. Are you plugged into a different wall phone jack? Is the phone line going to your computer the same phone cord you used before? There are things I would try if I could never get a solid stream. This is what I might do.
Update modem driver
make sure all applications are closed that require internet (I.M.s)
defrag hard drive
a reboot always helps sometimes
call my dial up ISP and b**** at them
If your computer is basically running ok, you should have no problems when you upgrade to a faster internet connection. DSL is a lot cheaper than cable (where I live) and it is plenty fast enough to get a stream with no interuptions. An occasional bladder stone may still interupt the stream though.
