Why I love Rugby!

A friend of mine called me last night because he broke his collar bone playing soccer. That got me thinking about some of the sports I've played and never got injured. (knocking on wood)

Here is a little clip of the joy that is Rugby. However, most of these clips are Union and I prefer League, its still pretty amazing.

Rugby is all good until someone gets hurt... I am short of stature, stalky build, and extremely fast. This made me a good scrambler. Played until I got tired of watching some of these guys getting knocked into next Tuesday, only to take a strong sniff of the smelling salts, go back in the game only to get knocked into the next week. Dain Bramage is a terrible thing.

(A ruler from the store!)
A ruler she wanted,
(TWELVE INCHES SHE GOT!)
I don't shop there anymore . . ."

OK .... they are ALL rugby league clips - Australian Rugby League (different to what you know as rugby).

Did you hear me in the first clip 8) - I was there - just over to the right - just off screen

The first clip - the blue and red side - is my beloved Newcastle Knights (they are later in there as well) and the player doing the tackle is the "Chief" - who I get most excited about these days when I see him at least weekly at his restuarant near my office ... WHAT A BODY!!!

I go to my first home game of the season this sunday - WOOHOO!!!

Being a former Rugby player, I can tell you what I didn't love as I got closer to 30.....Recovery time.

My old team tried to get me to come out of retirement this year, I cannot believe that I thought about it.

I thought that was because the Aussies could not understand the rules to real rugby.

Didn't it have more to do with pro/amateur status?
