For "true chinese food" - Hong Kong has pretty good chinese and it tastes NOTHING like Australian Chinese or American Chinese food (they all have their own taste - ours is nothing like yours and they are both not like "real chinese" food)

I believe it - most of our local places vary greatly on same-named menu items.

You sure require a lot of extra attention with this food stuff!

Here, it's pieces of deep fried chicken, in a sweet/spicy sauce. Similar to sweet and sour, but spicy.
Sounds heavenly JoAnn . . . Maybe we just call it something else in Canada!! Do you have Seven Stars Around the Moon on Chinese menus?

Jenny, the city where my folks live has become predominantly wealthy immigrant Chinese folks in the last 10 years....emphasis on WEALTHY. :-?

We now have lots of "real" chinese restaurants...which are nothing like American chinese restaurants. And I can't stand the real ones...too many weird, icky things on the menu! :o :o :o

My cousin's wedding reception was at a "real" chinese restaurant here...his wife is half chinese, half vietnamese. I was bummed that I did not get to go, until my Mom told me what was on the menu.

I think I'm the only person in NYC who doesn't like Chinese food.

Chicken feet. When we lived in Chicago there were alot of Chinese immigrants. The markets had huge cases full of chicken feet that the chinese would come in and buy by the ton. Um, no thanks. Don't think so.
