Took hubby's last name, moved up in the alphabet from S to G.

I never considered keeping my maiden name.

I took my husband's name and use my maiden name as my "middle" name now. I never thought about it in terms of which name I liked better, just in terms of tradition.
We have raised my daughter to know and have a feeling for "both" names. She understands that she is "half" and "half" even though she has the family surname.
It still irritates me a little that his ex-wife still uses the same name.....I hate people asking if I'm related to her.....I tell them she's my "ex-wife-in-law"

Was more than happy to take my husband's last name as mine.
*My initials prior to being married were "AAA." Tell me THAT didn't bring a few MILLION jokes about auto insurance!
*His last name w/ my first name is much easier to say than my maiden name. Much more "professional" sounding
*I HATED my middle name, but did want to maintain tradition, so I dropped my middle name and made my maiden name my new middle name.
It's all kind of an irony, b/c the last name we have is from his step father who adopted when he was eight. He actually identifies much more w/ his "other" family's last name.

If I search my maiden name on whitepages.com, there are only 16 entries in the entire USA, 5 of which are my immediate family!

If I Google it, the 1st 2 listings are my brother, there's a few more in English, and the rest of the pages are in German!

Why do I think anyone will care? I have no idea! I guess I think I'm special!
