I've read a few of the Doc Ford books, but not the entire series.

I really enjoy Randy's non-fiction. An American Traveler is a great collection. I've got Last Flight Out in a stack of about a dozen new books waiting to be read.

Haven't been to Doc Ford's Bar & Grill yet, but it's on the list. 8)

I have read them all and love all of them!!!! I am hard pressed to pick a favorite!!!

I have also read some of his non-fiction stuff...."Sharks of Nicauragua"? something like that.

Try reading Tim Cahill...."Pecked to Death By Ducks" was my favorite. He and Randy Wayne White know each other.......Most all of Tim's books have weird titles such as "A Jaguar Ripped My Flesh", "A Wolverine is Eating My Leg" , "Please Pass The Butterworms", etc. Also he wrote a book about driving from the furtherest point South in South America all the way up to the furtherest point North in Alaska by "road" and setting a record.
Tim Cahill has a reason for the weird names in the titles. An editor or someone overheard him talking ( or was it at a meeting?) and told him he would never sell a book with a title like that. Needless to say he has nuerous successful books with weird titles.

RWW and Tim Cahill have written for "OUTSIDE" and Sports Illustrated.

There is another writer, and they all know each other ( and apparently worked together at one time) that wrote an excellent book.I cannot recall the author or the title but I want to say it had Iguana in the title....

A friend of mine goes to Sanibel every spring with his family. I told him to check out Doc Ford's Rum Bar and Grille. They got back on Sunday with a hat for me from the bar. I gave him a big thank you, and he said flip it over. The bill was signed with a note from Randy Wayne White. Pretty cool. My friend said he was at the bar when the stopped in, and he was very friendly. He said he had a great conversation with him and the food was good too.

I have about 4 of the books. I started Sanibel Flats, but will need to finish it once school's out. I used to live in Fort Myers Beach, so I find it cool that his books take place on Sanibel Island.

Went to Doc Fords Sanibel Rum Bar and Grille back in December. Just walked through and gawked before the lunch crowd hit. Didn't get to meet the man, but did get a copy of my book Key Weird to the man who later read and liked it. So that was cool. 8)

I have not mentioned this to you but I got a copy of your book and thouroughly enjoyed it. I bought it at my local bookstore. The owner is an independent dealer.

I love RWW's books. I think they are the best of their genre in this day and age, and while NOT John D.McDonald.....he is not trying to be. He has brought in a fresh and pleasing breeze, filled with salt air and the marina smells and a whole lot of new friends and a most enjoyable entertainment. The best money I have spent on books in longer than I can care to remember. I just hope he can maintain the quality and the writing for a very long time to come.

I would also like to see a quality movie made that does justice to the characters and not some underfunded, overbudgeted cheaply and quickly produced and poorly scrioted movies made.
I know some would not like the movie(s) made because they take away from our mind's picture of the characters, and I understand that. However if the movie is done and done WELL....I would look forward to seeing it/them. If it is/were not properly done and funded and starred, then I would have no interest in seeing it.

Does anyone have any ideas for the characters? Doc Ford? Tomlinson? Jeth? all of the rest of the various members at the marina?

As for the site I visit it from to time. I have not as of yet had the opportunity to visit the bar. I am looking forward to doing so though. Perhaps I can justify the cost to do so very soon, and if I am lucky enough, I may get to meet RWW in person.

Love RWW, have read a good number of his books, but not the earliest ones. I started somewhere in the middle of the series after he'd switched from third person to first and I found it a bit jarring to go back to reading Doc Ford in third person.

I did email him once with some writing questions and he sent me back a thoughtful, lengthy and kind email in return. He seems like a terrific guy.

I guess I'm torn between James W. Hall and Randy Wayne White when it comes to my favorite current S. Florida writers. Either way, they are two authors whose books I never fail to purchase as soon as they're off the presses.

I'd LOVE to see a Doc Ford movie...gosh, casting would be hard, eh? I'd be afraid of what they'd do to Tomlinson, I think.

I hadn't seen RWW's tour schedule. Turns out he's in Sarasota....

March 23 Sarasota Circle Books 1:00 PM

.......like two days before I'm doing a signing at the same bookstore. :o
No way I can make that, and by the time my schedule is done he'll be in California. Oh well.....

Sam: Glad you liked Key Weird! (uh, there's a sequel out too, you know. )

....and I also think a Doc Ford movie would be a great idea!

Yes indeed, Sam, there is a sequel and it's been out for a few months now. Key Weirder picks up where Key Weird left off. Everyone that's read both liked the sequel even more, so that's cool. 8)
Both books are available thru Amazon, at select bookstores, and at http://www.tacobob.com If you order through the website just send a seperate email if you want a book signed.

Bookstores can order from Southern Book Service.

The third book is due in from the printer any day now.......

Will let'cha know.... I like dealing with her cause she is an independent bookstore owner ( and a good friend for several years.). She got me my copy, with no problems. Maybe we can work something out and I can snail mail them to you,to get them signed, or perhaps I might be in the area one day and we could meet up or something.
Keep up the great work. Tell Taco Bob and the his friends I said "Hi." and looking forward to reading about his further dilemas, debacles, and triumphs.

Perhaps he will manage a visit to Sanibel Island and meet up with Doc Ford and Tomlinson and the rest pr perhaps RWW one day...or at least have something to eat and a few drinks or something in the restaurant/bar. ( RWW, just might get a kick out of that. Be sure to ask him first.) 8) :pirate:

Thank you again!!! Don't stop writing them. You keep writing them, I will keep reading them! 8) :pirate:
