Am I the only one who's outraged?

Post by jodeet »

I think $130 for a concert ticket is bordering on extortion. Even if the Cubs, the Tribune Co. and Wrigleyville insisted on getting money, Buffett could have taken a pay cut and made the tickets affordable. (You can't take it with you, Jimmy.) Witness: The Dave Matthews Band at Randall Island, N.Y., in late July, with the Barenaked Ladies, the Black Eyed Peas and more. Tickets top out at $61.50 - FOR TWO DAYS!

When I realized I could go to at least four Cubs games (and not know what is going to happen, unlike a Buffett concert) for the price of one concert ticket, the decision was easy indeed.

Yes, but the concerts still sell out in a matter of minutes...or seconds(Mohegan Sun). I was willing to pay the outrageous prices, however sold out before I could get through!

Correct. He sets a certain amount flat fee then the promotor adds on the extras for whatever the promotor deems necessary.

And he could always go with a different promoter if he didn't like the way things were going.

But since so many people are willing to shell out that kind of money, it is apparently working for him. Just doesn't work for me.

I decided against complaining about it. It won't do any good. My wife and I are going to the parking lot and trying to score tix instead of standing in line. Maybe we'll even get better seats for cheaper. IF HE COMES HERE.

I hadn't been on these boards for a long time because I've been traveling. I'm back in the States for a few months and read about the Wrigley concert and thought for sure people would be up in arms over the ticket prices. Sadly, it appears not to be true.

Sorry I bothered posting and sorry I angered so many people by doing so. I'll take my money and build a library in Africa instead.

That 130 dollars will buy you about 10 books, so thats a good start. But really there are a lot of frustrated people aroudn here due to loads of new bners, who all happen to want to complain about the same two subjects, Alpine and wrigley, your best bet is to ignore comments like mine, and welcome to the board.

Haha you just made me so happy that someone finally took the initiative and layed down the law for people to stop complaining. I've been waiting for someone with my attitude to break out

It's less and less about the fans.....and more and more about the $$$$$. That's greed for ya.

AND the ticket prices CAN be lowered. I've seen countless concerts at the same venues Buffett plays, and 99% of them are much cheaper.

I still love the man though.

And JIMMY, please stop playing the same venues over and over again....and spread it out a little.

I'm a newbie, but I'm far from an angry newbie.

As for spending $130 a ticket, if I had a chance to see a concert, I'd pay 3 times that amount if I had to.

Airfare to fly down to the Lower 48
$1200

Food, Hotel & Liquid Refreshments
$600

Concert tickets
$300

Concert Memorabalia
$100

Seeing Jimmy in concert
PRICELESS
