Bruce Cockburn
Seeing as he's written 4 songs for Jimmy, I think he qualifies as a related artist. Are there any other people who listen to him? I have his greatest hits, but I'm not a huge fans of his music. He has some really good stuff, but he has a lot of environmental and political protest music too. His four songs which Jimmy has covered, Someone I Used to Love, Pacing the Cage, Anything, Anytime, Anywhere, and All the Way I Want You are all very well written songs. I would suggest people check him out and see what they think. Just remember he pronounces it Coburn and not Cockburn, guess he got made fun of a lot as a child lol.
I first heard of him when "Wondering Where The Lions" came out during the 70s and have followed his career off and on ever since. Yes, his work can be very political but with artists like Bruce you sorta of know what you're getting so that aspect of his music has never surprised me nor turned me off. I finally got to see him in concert last year at one of the Landmine Benefits along with Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, and Tift Merritt (who did an outstanding job sitting in for an ailing Mary Chapin-Carpenter) and must say he's also a very good live performer. He was playing leads on some of Tift's songs that he'd never heard before and didn't miss a lick. If you like what you hear on his albums I highly recommend checking out his live show.

That's something to look into if he ever comes around.

Thanks, I was just being nice to the previous posters, I always like your direct approach. Based on what I see here, we need to get your music collection and my music collection together, it would make for quite a party.Jahfin wrote:Just to clarify, none of the songs were written for Buffett, they're all cover tunes.FFishstick wrote:I like the songs that were written for or covered by Jimmy, but the rest of his stuff is just so - so IMHO.
