Boycott Buffett!

Post by Mo2 »

Buffett should be boycotted for doing a concert for Wal - Mart! :( He is proving to all of us that he does not have a social contains and that all he cares about is money! It is because of companies like Wal – Mart that the US economy is in the tank! By performing for Wal – Mart he is showing that he supports a company that has the most employees living below the poverty line, knowingly hires illegal aliens, ships your American jobs over seas, and that is just a small portion of Wal – Marts ills! :(

It was asked in the news forum, and I'll ask it here. What is a "social contains"?

My Father is working in Singapore right now due to an American company shipping jobs overseas. ALL COMPANIES ARE DOING THIS, WAL-MART IS JUST ONE OF THEM. And please, do you really think Jimmy thought to himself, "Hmmm, this company supports putting American jobs overseas, I like that! I think I will play for them!"
You are right about one thing that it is about the money. I look at it this way, Jimmy is genius business man who happens to play guitar. Do you blame him? I dont.

I could certainly never be called a fan of Wally-World but something should be said for a company that is (I believe) the largest employer in the US and has produced considerable wealth for many of their shareholders AND employees. True most of their employees are hourly and will perhaps never get rich but isn't that the case for pretty much every retailer in this country?

Anyway, this thread was certainly not intended to become political but I guess everyone has an opinion, right?

Hey, they are serving up Jimmy Buffett in a 70,000+ seat stadium FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC. I wish more companies were that unconscionable...oh sorry, I meant "unCONTAINable"

Thanks for the morning laugh LIPH!!!

My two cents on Wally World. They provided a service that this country was apparently hungry for. For those that complain about their wages there...don't work there. For those that make the argument that it is the only place they can get a job...educate yourself and get a better job. For those that say they can't afford college...do what I did. I worked almost full time and took out a boat load of loans. If you have a problem with their philosophy...don't shop there.

Exactly, Wal-Mart is doing a great thing by employing people who arent fortunate enough to get a higher education, or are unfortunately disabled. I work for Target (I'm a step below executive, almost there!), and obviously Wal-Mart isnt my favorite store around, they are our biggest competitor. I do have to say though, they provide work for those who normally cant find work, and are an equal opportunity employer. Could this country do without Wal-Mart? I'm sure we could, but it is a benefit to the less fortunate of our population.

Oh and yeah, a free Jimmy Buffett concert open to the public (hopefully) is F****ng awesome. So do give them some credit.

Well, I don't know if they are doing a great thing for people or not.
Dr. Jonas Salk did a great thing for people.

But anyway, I don't see cheap prices in Walmart for the things I normally purchase. On the other hand, I have more choices for shopping in this area.

In conclusion,

It ain't about the talent
It ain't about the skill
It's all about the silly stupid ***** deal!

That's why I never take his music to heart.

Buffett is playing in Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Thursday, June 2nd. The concert is FREE and the details are still being worked out as to when the general public will be allowed in. The Wal Mart stockholders will be allowed in first.

Buffetts stage will be on the 50yrd line, facing the east stands. That whole side of the stadium will be used for the concert.

As for Will Smith, Brad Paisley and the others, they are playing Wed, June 1st, in Bud Walton Arena (basketball). That concert is for Stockholders and guests.

Buffetts concert should start around 7pm with some opening acts.

Thats the latest news!!!!!!!!!
This is all confirmed

hey all here's an update from the northwest arkansas PHC. Still hoping that all this turns out to be true we have gone ahead and made some plans that might intrest any of you coming to fayetteville to (hopefully) see jimmy.

On the evening of june 1st we will host a "feeding frenzy in fayetteville" Pre party at Powerhouse Seafood and Grill. This event will be on their patio and will be open to parrotheads only. It will start at 8pm and go to whenever or 2am, depending on which comes first. Admission will be 5 bucks.

After the concert Jose's Mexican Resteruant will be the site of a our post party. No cover but it will be in a public setting.

Once again if anyone has questions you can email us at parrotheadsunite@yahoo.com We will have directions and such for everyone next week.

Ole for Jose!!!!!
It's been many years but I know it well. We moved away from Fayette Nam back in 1990 but it was always the best place in town to get a good chimichanga and a great margarita. Glad to know they're still servin' it up!

I still can't believe the MAN is coming to my home town and I won't be there to welcome him in fine Razorback style. I'm envious Jon

Any word as to whether Radio Margaritaville is going to broadcast the concert?
