bandjmasters wrote:I got a copy of an email distributed to Walmart employees today from their events group. Here is the scoop:

1) Contrary to some media outlets reporting it, no shareholders or public will be permitted inside for the concert. Only Walmart associates (employees) will be allowed in.

2) The warm-up acts are Shakira and Jessie McCartney.

3) The concert is limited to the first 25,000 people.

4) Each associate is allowed one guest who must enter at the same time as the associate.

5) Gates open at 6:15 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:00

6) They will hand out souvenier tickets as people enter. Once the tickets are gone, nobody else gets in.

I will get in thanks to a family member who works for Walmart.....good luck to everybody else.
forgive me . .but how can it be a"shareholder's " event . .and not invite them / let them in . .? ?

secondly . .how much to "buy " an associate for the day ? ?

The shareholders get into the show the night before. Will Smith, Brad Paisley and Sarah Evans. Smaller show inside the arena. They always have a concert for associates only. They have employees from all over the world come into town for the week so they always give them something "extra". In this case it's something "EXTRA!!!!!!!!"

I have a friend from out of town that plans to get into town early and hang around the stadium. He says he will just try to find someone willing to take his money and let him "be their guest". I've done crazier things to get into places I wasn't supposed to be.

associates only?
The wal mart stores do not close around here for this. There is no way that there are going to be 25,000 assoicates in town that week. if is an associates only, then way are they having the show in RRS, a 70,000-seat facility?
I'll be in line all day, trying to find a way in.
My god, can you imagine 25,000 wal-mart yahoos doing that stupid wal-mart cheer? I think I am going to hurl.

thanks for the update . . I , too, have trouble believing it's only for associates. .

and why would they offer Will Smith to the shareholders and give the associates an exclusive Jimmy Buffett concert . .. .

does not compute . .

:o

and , by the way . . after filling the ?? hotels in town with associates from all over the country , we still had no problem getting a room right down the street . .

My guess would be specially selected associates from various stores along with home office and regional folks. As Wal-Mart employs a bunch of people, 25,000 would go pretty quick. Also, the probably have select hotels booked for their crew (as with a regular convention or company meeting) and others are open.

But if this is the case, then why weren't shareholders told the Buffett concert was not open to them when they called Wal-Mart HQ??

What a PR Cluster**** this is looking like for shareholders.

They need to get their story straight and stick to it!

I received an e-mail from the Wal-Mart Senior Communications Manager today. He said that the outdoor concert featuring Buffett is not even open to shareholders. Its Wal-Mart associates only.

Here's a snippit from the e-mail

The outdoor concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, in Razorback Stadium will feature performances from Shakira, Jesse McCartney and Jimmy Buffett. Admission to this concert will be handled differently than in past years.

· Contrary to misinformation communicated by some media outlets, this concert is not open to shareholders or to the general public.
· Outdoor concert attendance will be limited to 25,000 Wal-Mart associates and specially invited guests. Wal-Mart associates will be allowed to bring one guest each.

· Admission for associates is on a first-come, first-served basis.
· Associates must present their valid Wal-Mart ID badges at the gate.
· Souvenir tickets will be handed out as each person enters the stadium. When the tickets are gone, no one else will be allowed inside.

So, the Wal Mart near me will pretty much hire anyone on the spot if they have a high school education, and if you've got a college degree, they'll pretty much make you store manager in a day. So why don't the PH's who want to go to this concert just go and get themselves a "temporary job" at their local store so they can get that coveted ID badge? Sounds cheaper than bribing another associate.

I thought about that, but then figured they'd make me work on June 2nd. I guess I'll wait 'till Jimmy heads to the Midwest. :-?
