I do hope it stays free on the internet, I cant live without my Buffett buffet at lunch time. I also wonder if I'll be able to get Radio Margaritaville through my dishnetwork at home where I already receive Sirius stations?
I will check with some people here at work and see if I can find an answer for you on this. Forgot to mention...I work for Dish.

Me to! I like Stern but I wasn't sure if I would get Sirus just for that reason but with Buffett, Stern and the NFL there - it is a no-brainer now. Plus I hear the new Sirus units are very compact and good quality.

Now, you can go to a Buffett show without tickets, tailgate all day then hear the show live from the parking lot on RM.........so you can tailgate before, during and after the show. :D

Even if it does you should still be able to access it through Sirius' web site.

I would expect Jimmy would negotiate to keep RM.com because of its existing audience, etc. You can bet there will be a link to and ad for Sirius, however. It's really a win-win for both parties to add-on vs. replace, I would think (...without knowing the technical aspects, that is).

No info I can find on RM or M'ville.com. You'd think they'd have something to say.

Oh, they already have their ads up there. In fact it's the headline on RM today.

This is incredible news. I have been a Sirius subscriber for over 2 years now, and want to welcome everyone that is about to subscribe. I had posted a message last week asking if anyone here listens to Sirius's "Vacation" channel, which features a lot of Buffett and other artists like Sunny Jim, Eric Stone, Don Middlebrook, Mark Mulligan, etc. And now this announcement. This is great.
The "Vacation" channel that "Radio Margaritaville" will replace features Jimmy and those artists I mentioned above mixed with calypso/caribbean, Hawaiian, and Reggae music. So Radio Margaritaville will be a bit different, but is certainly a huge coup for Sirius. There has been discussion for months over at www.siriusbackstage.com among Sirius listeners who wanted them to pick up "Radio Margaritaville", and now they have listened and are bringing it to Sirius.
So as a huge Buffett fan and also a huge Sirius fan (and someone who posts on both message boards), let me welcome all the Parrotheads and personally invite you to "phlock" to Sirius. Seriously (or should I say Siriusly), the Sirius satellite service is really a great product and their programming and choice of channels is FAR superior and much better thought out than XM, their competitor. I know Sirius got off to a slower start and fell behind XM at first because of starting up about a half year late, but very solid programming and the additions of huge name's like Howard Stern, Martha Stewart, and now Jimmy Buffett have really catipulted them to the top of the emerging satellite radio business. So as a fan of both Jimmy and Sirius, I am ecstatic this morning. And as I said, I invite everyone to check out all the great programming on Sirius. You can check it out at www.sirius.com (you can sign up and listen online for free for 3 days). Also, if you want to check out in-depth discussions about Sirius and it's programming, be sure to visit us over at the huge fan site and forum site at www.siriusbackstage.com Also, till Radio Margaritaville debuts, you should check out Sirius's "Vacation" channel (Channel 97). More info on it can be found at www.sirius.com/vacation
As far as when Radio Margaritaville debuts on Sirius; I read in one of the messages that it is slated to begin sometime in June. I can't wait.
(Hey, Jimmy is in space now. Sirius.. providing tunes for that "Beachhouse on the Moon" !!!) And hey, speaking of 'BHOTM', maybe the channel will launch "on a cloudless night in June" :pirate:

To anyone who's a "veteran Sirius user"....is it possible to record from Sirius?
Although i have not done it i would belive there are ways...
1. Like recording a song from the radio
2. Capture the stream on your computer

botdrnk wrote:What about recording Sirius? Is it as easy as a CD-Recorder hooked up as an "auxillary unit" to your Home Sirius Docking Station? That is, assuming the concerts continue to be broadcast.
I do not have Sirius but my brother does and I have took my audio cd recorder (a stand alone stereo unit) to his house numerous times to record songs. There are RCA hooks up in the back of the Sirius Unit.

According to a post over at www.siriusbackstage.com there is an article about the announcement on the front of the Life section of today's USA Today, and according to the article Sirius will kick off the "Radio Margaritaville" simulcast with a live broadcast of the June 15th concert from Virginia. Not sure if this is accurate or not, but I'm going to check USA Today and probably buy a copy today as well.
