I'm sure "Sirius" will be in there somewhere but from what I've read it's still going to be called Radio Margaritaville.

I have read that Sirius is looking at doing video too, wouldn't it be great if they would stream the concert too

Not sure if this is accurate or not, but I'm going to check USA Today and probably buy a copy today as well.
That would make sense. I think the first Radio Margaritaville live broadcast was from Manassas.

Both satellite companies are looking into streaming video. We are just at the very beginning of what this technology can do. I am psyched that Howard and Jimmy are on the same channel. Now why didn't I buy SIRI the morning Howard announced? Jump from 2 and change to 9+ when Mel made his move. Back in the 5's but it'll keep on climbing.

Talked to one of my co-workers here at Dish, who works with Sirius for our company. She informed me that RM will be available on the Dish Network Sirius music channels in your home. I'm sure it's been mentioned already, but in the memo she received from Sirius, it did say that RM will continue to be free of charge on the internet :D

I've got a hardware question for you Sirius people. I've been with XM for several years, but wanting to switch to Sirius for the last few months due to their NFL contract & college sports package. The RM addition now makes it a lock (especially since I can't stream at work). One of our XM receivers (Skyfi2) has a feature that allows you to save 20 songs and 20 artists (one or the other). It will then notifiy you when a saved artist is playing anywhere on the dial. Does any of Sirius's hardware have this feature? I know you can get song title alerts, but I love the artist alerts. While its not a deal-breaker with me, it sure will make it easier to talk my wife into making the switch.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this...but this is what's on the M'Ville home page:

"Singer/songwriter/author Jimmy Buffett and SIRIUS Satellite Radio announced an agreement to present a Radio Margaritaville music channel exclusively for SIRIUS subscribers. The new 24-hour channel, featuring a wide variety of music, live broadcasts of Buffett concerts and other unique programs, will debut this summer."

Two observations:

1) It says "a RM music channel" not "the" RM.
2) It also says "exculsively for SIRIUS subscribers" which could remove the internet availability -- unless they're hedging and the exclusivity only applies to the satellite technology.

(The RM website announcement basically just links straight to Sirius.)

I, like our friend from the 1st state, need info too. I have been looking at the Sirius product, but they have so many different types. I know I want to be able to listen in my car and home, so a "Plug n Play" but they have the Sportster, the Starmate, the XACT and the JVC.

Can I plug it into my BOSE radio at home and play it through there or do I need their boombox?

Is one version better advanced technically speaking?

Do I need professional installation for my car?

HELP! :pirate:
