Sell me on Jack Johnson

Post by stlrman »

I'm hearing a lot about Jack Johnson and my friends that know I'm a parrothead are all trying to turn me on to him. I've listened to a few snippets of his tunes on itunes and don't really see the attraction. Maybe I'm listening to the wrong tunes. What are the best songs of his to listen to or get a true feel for his music? Any help? thanks.

Sometimes we just don't like the same stuff as everyone else. I'm a big Buffett fan but nothing I've heard by Jack Johnson really clicks with me.

I wouldn't compare Jack to Jimmy. Two completely different styles.

However, Jack has a great sound - very laid back and mellow. His shows also have a kick back vibe that feels a little like a Buffett show...maybe a few years ago.

My biggest fear is that when I die, my wife will sell all my Buffett stuff for what I said I paid for it!

I like the entire albums when it comes to Jack Johnson, I don't really like or dislike any song more than the next, his music is just great to listen to on one of those mellow, laidback days.

I just kind of discovered Jack myself. One of the girls here at work, hooked me up with a copy of the lastest CD, In Between Dreams.

Some of my favs off that album are:
Constellations
Good People
Banana Pancakes
Do You Remember

Definitely worth checking out 8)

Not sure a few songs will sell you on him. For me, he's the closest thing to the Jimmy Buffett music I love (i.e. earlier JB). All three albums are fabulous, all of his live shows are available for download, and the i-Tunes session is incredible. Grab some rum, plant your chair in the sand, fire up the i-Pod and relax. I like to alternate Jack and Jimmy songs on my playlist. Makes for a nice afternoon.

I downloaded a few of his songs in an honest effort to get into him but just could not.
Far too monotone for me but to each his own.

I think you have to listen to each CD twice before it Clicks
