Computer people! How to enter bios settings?

I am having trouble getting my aircard to work with my laptop and after spending WAY to many hours with several tech supports and no help from them I found out at a EVDO forum that a solution is to change a setting in the bios settings upon booting up.
Anybody know how to access that bios setting?
What button to push I suppose......any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx,
jollymon

Depends on the manufacturer.
When you first turn it on it will usually something like "press <key> to enter setup" This <key> could be delete, f10, f2 etc.
If you do a google search for your model + BIOS you should find the key.
I'm not sure what BIOS setting they could be talking about as the BIOS usually configures power and boot settings. Is it a WiFi card you're trying to install? Is it a newer or older model laptop (it could be a "cardbus" card which older models might not support.)

Thanx pollyroger,
It's a 4 year old Sony Vaio Z505LSK running Windows 2000 Pro and a new Novatel V620 aircard. I did the delete button with no luck then the F8 button (which is the one it says when it boots up) and didn't see anything saying bios settings.
I'll try the google search.
I appreciate it.

from my POV also be somewhat careful When following "help"
with Tech/help forums I read them as amusement for
the Tivo/directv "help" I do not know if the Laptop/Computer forums
are as filled with yo-yos as the DTV ones but if they are

What comes up when you hit F8? It might not say "BIOS" per se but you might see tabs named "Power", "Boot", etc. This is the BIOS.
What problem are you having? Have you checked with Verizon?
