They open at 12 except for the VIP lot which opens at 9. I posted a link in another thread on some of the rules about the lots. I fear they will be enforced more strictly then other places since the folks who run the lots have a history of being difficult to deal with. The big things I saw where the no tents provision and the mantra that you will not be allowed to line up prior to 12 and wait to get in the lot. This will likely be strictly enforced if past history is any indicator.

I'm not trying to be a smart azz, but I have to question your "past history as an indicator theory". Exactly what past history are you referring to? I go to every home Steeler game, and have NEVER had ANY problems with security. While I do believe that no tents or pop ups will be allowed, and they will "try" to discourage people from arriving too early, what are they gonna do if 300 cars are waiting to get in the lots at say, 10:00 am? It's not like this venue is "out in the sticks" like Starlake, there's simply NO WHERE to "stack" the cars like airports do with planes. The Pittsburgh police will force them to open the lots earlier. Like I said before, I'm NOT trying to be a smart azz, but I think there will be far less problems than people are anticipating. By the way, I was at the Pirate game on Saturday night, and was trying to imagine what PNC will be like for Buffett. All I can say is I hope Jimmy goes back to playing the ampitheaters next year, the tailgating will definately suffer this year.

I dont read anywhere in my post where I say having any problems with security. If you go to every steeler game then you know that they strictly enforced thier rules this year regarding the parking lots and basically told the Rooneys to get bent when they tried to intervene. I am somewhat confused why you would think the police would "force" them to open their private lots rather than ticket or move people. Maybe you are right, but as for me it won't be an issue for those of us living the high life in the VIP lot!

I have been to every Steeler game since Heinz Field opened and they have NEVER opened the Lots early. For Steeler games they open 5 hours before kickoff so I guess we are lucky they are opening 6 hours before the show.We arrive about 1/2 hour before they open and wait in line at Gold Lot 4. They won't let you wait in front of the lot but they do let you wait in line in the curb lane around the lot. If the curb lane is full that is when the Pittsburgh Police move you and let me tell you that you better move they don't play around. As far as security in the lot they are pretty tough. When you enter the parking attendants will direct you to a space and you better listen or the police will through you out. So if you are coming with a couple of cars you better arrive together if you want to park together just like they do at Starlake. Once you start partying the Police are actually pretty cool as long as your not acting like an idiot they will leave you alone. They do not allow any types of tents.

1998 AFC Championship game against the Broncos. The lot we wanted to park in opened early because of the large number of cars lined up. Look guys, I was not trying to start an arguement or debate. Sorry if it seemed that way.
