Caffeine does not cause headaches, although caffeine withdrawal can cause them. It has the effect of opening up the capillaries in the brain, reducing headaches. It is the only real med for migraines in children before the age of 12 or so because ibuprofen and the prescription migraine meds are contra-indicated at that age.Brown Eyed Girl wrote:I've got a bad one too, Tik.And I usually go the route you do...with mixed results.
Interestingly enough, Excedrin has caffeine in it, which I always thought made headaches worse, but sometimes that helps when nothing else does. Of course I don't have any here though. But maybe some caffeinated soda might help?

Tiki, do you have migraine? Look it up on HealthCentral.net or webmd.com. For most migraine sufferers, Imitrex is a Godsend.
In that case, you may need my suggestion tomorrow.Tiki Bar wrote:But, since I've been home, I've had oh, (not that o) a handful of Killians, and the headache is gone, or I just don't notice it!![]()
Thanks all for the suggestions... will keep them handy for next time.
I've tried 3 different migraine medicines (can't remember the name now) and none of them worked for meredwinemaker wrote:Caffeine does not cause headaches, although caffeine withdrawal can cause them. I have had similar problems--tried Imitrex, the migraine wonder drug and it did nothing. Fiorinal sometimes works though it takes a double dose. Fortunately the migraines are infrequent, but they are not fun!ParrotheadGator wrote:I've tried 3 different migraine medicines (can't remember the name now) and none of them worked for meredwinemaker wrote:Caffeine does not cause headaches, although caffeine withdrawal can cause them. Certainly not. When I have severe migraines, they almost completely blind me and diabilitate me. They were happening several times a week, caused by my job (staring at computers). Now that I'm manager, I don't do the tedious work anymore and the severe migraines are much less frequentejr wrote:I have had similar problems--tried Imitrex, the migraine wonder drug and it did nothing.
