My wife and I danced to "Survive" for our first song. I also made a CD with alot of songs off of "Ballads" and other slow songs to be played during dinner. We had our reception at the Coral Reef Yacht Club in Coconut Grove so it was a fitting that alot of Buffett was played.
Each day is better than the next.

We had a band, and I went to the trouble of giving them lyrics and a tape of my favorite Buffett songs. They learned them, did a great job and have used them since.
For another party I threw, I gave the guitar player a Buffett song book, told him he'd never be sorry he learned a Buffett song.
If you have a DJ, I'd burn him a disc of your favorites just to be sure.

Reception song
We played Bigger Than the Both of Us as one of our songs during our ceremony. You might not remember songs that you played in your reception, but if you can get it played during your ceremony, it will be part of your wedding forever. Now, if I'm on the road, I'll call my wife, play it in the background when were talking. She loves it!
I've had good days and bad days and going half mad days...
Our DJ was great, when he found out I liked Buffett he said he knew just what to play. During my brothers Best Man speech he mentioned me being a PH. That got a big cheer form the PH table. Yep, took a chance and sat them all at the same table. Right after the speech he played a Finz and surprised us by pulling out a Neon shark fin. It remained on the rest of the reception. He played a great mix of music that night with lots of Buffett thrown in, most of the SYKBH stuff etc. During most Buffett songs just about everyone was on the dance floor, weather they were PH's or not.
Our song was Deep in My Heart by Matt Hall and St. Somewhere. We had a dance choreographed for it, but had to do the whole dance in a circle think as my wife's dress was too long and she would have tripped when dancing backwards. I am glad we tried it right before we were announced. That would have been embarassing. I was at least able to dip her at the end of the song.

Are you looking just for slow songs for the bride and groom dance? Or are you looking for some stuff that will get the people out of their seats and dancing? If you are trying to get 'em out of their seats, VOLCANO!
I can't help but get up and dance around when I hear that song...no matter how many times I've heard it

I second Anything, Anytime, Anywhere for first dance.CUparrot wrote:"Anything, Anytime, Anywhere" or "All the Ways I Want You" might be good for your first dance.
Lovely Cruise for the last song (it's not as obvious as the usual: Last Dance, I've Had the Time of My Life, or New York, New York).

First off, change the rules! You need waaaaay more than 3
At our reception, we gave the dj copies of some of our cd collection so he wouldnt have any excuses. He played the entire Ballagds cd as our dinner music. Our first song, as above was Slow Boat to China. Unfortunately he forgot to write down the "setlist" so the rest is a blur, but mixed in with the 80's alternative and rock was jazz, dance music and a lot of Buffett. Fins was a high point, there were only about 6 parrotheads in the crowd but they all got into it. SYKBH works well for this crowd, I hate to say
Good Luck to you all planning weddings, its fun: let it be so
