So I'm finalizing the playlist for my wedding ... I've been given an allotment of 3 buffett songs that I can play
the fiance stole one with Harbor
that leaves two (although I think I can squeeze 3) ... any suggestions on what would be appropriate songs

We had a buffett cover band...so it was 99% Buffett! But the 2 we picked for our wedding video: Love & Luck and Knees of my Heart!

My fiancee and I are having our first dance to "Coast of Carolina". Love and Luck will also definitely be played. "Lovely Cruise" might end the reception. "Margaritaville" will be played as we are having a Margarita toast instead of a champagne toast. "Fins" is likely to replace "The Electric Slide". CILCIA is also possible.

i was thinking lovely cruise to end the reception, but not sure since it could be taken either way (end of reception or end of something else.........)
love & luck is a great idea
present to send you could be interesting ... always a favorite
"But honey I can never ever pretend
You're not there on my mind
There sits a fifth of Tequila
God I swore I'd never drink it again"
i was thinking maybe "Lovely Lady"
I've also always loved "slow boat to china"
soo difficult ... the playlist is online, I may have to rearrange it and plead ignorance

"I Wish Lunch Could Last Forever" from Off To See The Lizard . . .
I wish love could last forever
Make the whole day a first time love affair
We'll begin with a kiss, such a warm place to start
Let me into your life let me into your heart
Mea culpa mea culpa carnival's in the air
We'll begin with a kiss, such a warm place to start
Let me into your life let me into your heart
I wish, I wish that lunch could last forever ..............

I've always thought that "Little Miss Magic" would be a good Father/Daughter dance at a reception. Daddy recalling those first few days with his new baby girl. Now, Daddy's little girl is all grown up.
"I see a little more of me everyday
I catch a little more moustache turning grey
Your mother is the only other woman for me
Little Miss Magic what you gonna be?
Sometimes I catch her dreaming and wonder
where that little mind meanders
Is she down along the shore or
strolling cross the broad Savannah's
I know in time she'll learn to make up her own mind
In time she's gonna learn to fly
Oh that I won't deny"
Although, since it sounds like YOU are the Parrothead, she may not go for that one.

With that in mind, I'd maybe suggest something that everyone could have fun with, such as "Fins," "Brown Eyed Girl," or "Hey Good Lookin."

At my wedding, I danced with my mother to Pirate Looks at 40. They played Fins, and Cheeseburger in Pardise, Margaritaville, and Why Don't We Get Drunk. It was great, I let the DJ know myself and my friends were big Buffett fans. So, once he played the first Buffett song and it got such a great reception with the crowd, he kept playing them all night. My grandmother especially liked the last one!

Great post, thanks. Working on the playlist for our reception as well. So far, we've got the wedding party entering to Hot, Hot, Hot (not 100% sure on this, but I think it could be fun), our first dance is to Love & Luck (and is pretty much the theme through the day), and our last dance will be Lovely Cruise. We're also playing Margaritaville (of course), 5 O'Clock Somewhere, Fins, Brown Eyed Girl, Southern Cross, and thinking about one or two more Buffett originals, but I want them to be fun songs that everyone will know. Maybe Come Monday as a slow one. Still working on Father/Daugher and Mother/Son. Was thinking Little Miss Magic and maybe You've Got a Friend (for my dance with my step-father).
When I was interviewing DJs, the first question I asked was, you know who Jimmy Buffett is, right? The one that won was the one who said, name any song and I'll play it right now, my best friend is a parrothead. Can't beat that.
Glad to hear of other upcoming parrothead weddings... good luck to you all!
Gotta go get ready for Nissan.... only a few more hours til we hit the road and make our way over there...

Our wedding party danced to Southern Cross.
For those who have asked the dj if they had Buffett songs, I'd suggest verifying this (due to my own misfortune). We also asked the dj if he had Buffett music and he gave us this song and dance of how he used to dj up at Put-n-Bay and had all his stuff. Well come reception time, I was off getting in a shot of tequila and my wife wanted the dj to play my favorite song (Jolly Mon), well instead he played Margaritaville and not another Buffett song was played the rest of the night. We were quite annoyed, but I guess I should have seen this coming when I had to supply the cd for Southern Cross!
