Radio Margaritaville Debuts on Sirius Tonight

Post by phjim »

Sirius Satellite Radio debuts the new Radio Margaritaville channel on Wednesday, June 15. The channel will be launched with a live broadcast of Jimmy Buffett's concert from Bristow, Virginia. Radio Margaritaville lanched in 1998 as an Internet-only station. Streaming live concerts began on RM with a live broadcast from the Nissan Pavillion on June 10th, 1999 (although only the second half of the show was broadcasted as an experiment).

Woo-Hoo!
Thanks for the update and history of RM Jim! :D

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

It will change the way you listen to radio...I can't listen to "terrestrial" radio anymore...I'm listening to Stern right now in Dallas and they are in the middle of another 22 minute commercial break...I was so stoked about Radio Margarita starting tonight that last night on the 30 minute drive home I listened to the promo for the Magaritaville station all the way home and it's a continous 1:45 minute loop. Is that sad or what?

I called Sirius activiation

Post by amccraw »

My main reason for calling was to try and get an idea how many parrotheads were signing up but I asked him how long it would take to get activated if I bought a radio today...he said 5 minutes to activate

I purchased my radio last week, and I love it. I got the car kit and home kit so I can hear Jimmy wherever I am. I keep going and listening to the Radio Margaritaville commercial at least 3 times a day. Cant wait for tonight.

At 3:00 CDT, Dish Netowrk added 6098 to the lineup of Top 120 & 180 customers. Everything is a go for tonight!

Same manufacturer, but it's the Rego which can record. I haven't seen anywhere yet. It's brand new and I think availablility is pretty limited.

Lexus released their dealer-installed Sirius radio Monday. I had it installed yesterday. I am listening to Jimmy and the band live at Nissan RIGHT NOW in my car!!

Makes the L.A. traffic infinitely more bearable. Thank you, Sirius, Jimmy, and Steve!
