Sounds like RM was pretty good on Sirius. Getting ready to get myself hooked up to it. I'm tired of regular radio. I need more JIMMY! Hey, curiousity has me wondering - is it as simple to record the show as plugging a CD recorder into your Sirius "player" (for lack of a better term) or "boombox"?

I'm going to Best Buy tonight, Circuit City and a local chain to research the hardware. There are kits avialable where you can hook it up to another input source if you get low end model.

I've been listening all morning and I'm not yet sure what to think of the new format, that said I think the sound over Sirius from last nights show was 110% better than listening on my dialup connection. Now I just need to find a way to connect to the computer to record the shows digitally. I've been thinking about buying an Audio/Video Capture card to transfer VHS C to DVD, maybe I'll just have to go ahead and buy one.

I think I'll reserve judgment on the New RM format, I kind of liked Steve's info about artists etc... and also noticed the Vintage vinyl program was gone, wonder if Feat's at Five is also history?

Time will tell!

Feats at Five is not on the program schedule listed on the RM page.

Nope, I've been listening all day at work, on the net, and at lunch I listened in the truck it's the same although the net seems like it's behind by about 30 seconds, may be due to firewalls, net traffic, etc...

Delaney's Dad, if you have a decent soundcard, you can plug into it.

A VIdeo capture card can record the audio, but many want a video source to go with it too.

I have always said that if Radio Margaritaville went satellite I would get one. I did and I love it. I have dial-up and so anytime I wanted to listen to RM I had to not surf. Now I can surf slow ( dial-up) and listen to RM full speed.

Listening on Friday morning. No Feats, but they do have a live DJ now (not Steve) and he is taking calls, requests, etc.

I guess it is still evolving.

Hmmm...so far, I have no complaints. I enjoy being able to listen through the home theater (Dish Network) and yesterday at work (RM online) the content seemed a lot less distracting...although, it was only one day.

I still haven't decided whether or not to get SIRIUS for the vehicles yet. Only time will tell. :pirate:

Maybe, just like any other new station start up, they went through the 24 hr brake in period, then the DJs start showing up

I have 3 XM radios and have been with XM for over 3 years, I emailed them before I signed up about radio margaritaville and they said that it was in the works.

I've been die hard about XM, but recently become very dissappointed with rate increases and more and more ads showing up on a 100% commercial free network.

That said, I scrapped XM and got Sirius, got me 3 starmates, one for each car and one for the boat and I love it. The all elvis and radiomargaritaville pretty much are the only two channels I need :D

I'm trying to reserve judgement, trying not to be disappointed. The DJ
this morning (Miles Hampton?) is playing a reasonably good variety of
stuff. The Buffett Buffet yesterday was painful; every 3rd one was a
SYKBH. And the Sirius promos every 10 minutes are getting a little
tedious. (There's another one now :-( )

But I'm really missing Steve. I like the background info, the anecdotes,
the connections he makes between the songs he plays. Mostly I just like
his style, relaxed and conversational. For me, he's always been the best
thing about RM.

And I hope Feats and Beatle Brunch aren't really gone. The real test
will be today at 4:00 ET; if we don't get Happy Hour from NOLA, that
might be the end for me.
Anything you love to do,
Just say someday I will...

I think Steve is still on, before there was one show they played 2 or 3 times per day, since that won't fly they'll have two DJ's who play different shows all day.

Or at least that is the way I understood it.

Buffett Buffet

Post by amccraw »

I love Buffett Buffet...I've been a longtime Parrothead but strayed away the past few years until Sirius. I ride around during Buffett Buffet with chill bumps. I love it. I heard the entire concert Wednesday night and went out the next day to buy the License To Chill CD and ended getting that and Live from Hawaii...I'll be glued to the radio every morning for the Buffet....Thanks Jimmy and Sirius. it sounds great!!!!

I heard a promo for Sirius on the radio today. They have a special offer for a receiver for $50 after the $50 mail in rebate and 6 mos pre-paid. That might get me going. Radio Shack, Best Buy, Circuit City were all listed.

Here is the BB offer

Looks like day 2 with no Coral Reefer Madness and the 1st 2 Buffett Buffets have not featured any unreleased music (which they normally do and the FAQ from Sirius said would continue). Hopefully they're still getting up o speed on programming.
