Donovan Frankenreiter

Post by Communicado »

Donovan Frankenreiter is a new artist i think quite a few parrot heads will enjoy so check'em out if you get a chance. he's kinda got the surf thing going on and doesnt really have the lyrical presence that jimmy or jack johnson has, but it's still great for a little roadtrip soundtrack.

I was suprised to find the album at Best Buy. I dig the album. It is very mellow. Definitely can tell the JJ influences. I like the duets with JJ and G-Love. It's worth checking out if you are thinking about it.
Jimmy stares
Towards the bright Pleiades
It's so strange
What his distant eye sees
Who knows why you start
Rediscovering your heart
But you do it again and again

What a coincidence. I accidentally came across this guy yesterday.

I heard Jimmy singing a song on RadioMargaritaville that I'd never heard before, that I found kinda funny. I Googled some lyrics and came up with "Trouble on the Horizon" which set me on my afternoon treasure hunt. Screw work! I'm hunting!

Anyway, the Buffett song is from 1 of 3 "Music for our Mother Ocean" CD's that were done back in the late 1990's. On the 1st CD is a duet by Gary Hoey (one of my faves) and Donovan Frankenreiter.

Anyway, you can check out all 3 CD's at: http://www.surfdog.com/mom.html. However, it doesn't look like any of the CD's are still available retail. Amazon.com had a bunch of new/used that you can buy from other people.
