marijoy wrote:Trader - a few questions for you. What and where is Tommy Rockers? Do I need advance tickets or anything?
Also, what is the MGM pool party? I havent heard about this. Is it an actual pool party?
This will be mine and hubby's first show in Vegas. We are still trying to figure everything out! Thanks!
Hello Marijoy-
One thing you'll find is that if you "stay tuned" to these Vegas threads you'll be offered up more info than you'll ever be able to use in several lifetimes!
So this information is not the end all on this subject -trust me!
Regarding Tommy Rockers/Last Man Standing Party: Tommy Rockers is the name of the night club where the major Friday night pre-party function is held. It's also the name of the Buffett tribute band that plays there as well. The Las Vegas Parrot Head Club sponsors this great event. Usually held outside in their parking lot (that is if a desert wind storm isn't whipping through-LOL) with a great entertainment line-up. Last April Mac McAnally showed up and put on a great show! It's off the Strip on the other side of the freeway- five minutes by cab from the Flamingo or any of the centrally located hotels. More info re: tickets and the like will follow as we get closer via
Dean Siu- our Vegas "guy".
Regarding the MGM Pool Pre-Party: It used to be in the old MGM Theme Park- they've since taken that down and are putting in condos. They needed a new spot and so they decided on the pool area. It was a blast last year and I can only assume that they'll do it again this year. The reason a lot of people like it is because it's right next to the arena and they can party right up until showtime and then just herd in
with the other 18,000 or so crazies. The MGM is famous for waiting til the VERY last minute to finalize the party. It drives everyone nuts- but it always seems to go off and a good time is had by all.
And if you're asking if people are actually allowed in the pool- I would say no- at least not in great numbers. There's always a Buffett tribute band playing ( A1A, the Cheeseburgers, or someone like that) drinks, food, interactives, etc.
I think you'll find a lot of people split their time between the M'ville Alley party and the MGM party- thanks to the monorail...which actually is working quite well lately - at least it was last April.
Hope your first trip to Vegas is a hoot and we'll see you there!
