Buffett is preparing a DVD of the Fenway shows to release for Christmas -- and he said before last night's gig that he was approached to play Fenway again this year, but opted to play in ballparks in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh.
While most Jimmy Buffett shows tread maddeningly similar ground, the barefooted troubadour attempted to mix things up a bit for this tour. The experimentation unfortunately crashed and burned. Two awkward and misguided attempts at reaching a younger demographic reared their head twice during the show.
In the first set, an overblown arrangement demolished the minimalist groove of Jack Johnson's ``Horizon Has Been Defeated.'' Later on in the second set, Buffett managed to butcher Dave Matthews' ``Tripping Billies,'' his square cornball schtick smoothing the tune's loose funk out of existence. Not that the crowd seemed to mind one bit. Things maybe sound better after a day spent imbibing cocktails in the parking lot.
Wow, screw the Boston Herald. I thought they were great.
Buffett's true talent is in his ability to freeze a smile and happily strum through the millionth rendition of ``Margaritaville'' and the woeful ``Cheeseburger in Paradise'' without inducing the gag reflex.
Apparently this author must think SYKBH is Jimmy's only album.

Personally-I think his version of Trippin Billies is horrible. Jimmy just sounds bad and the band is off. Please abbandon that song before you reach the 'Burgh. Please!!
