Well, it has been some time since I've been on this site. I got my screen name as I expressed my opinion and was jumped on by a bunch of nazi anti-scalping generals who felt they have the only and right opinion on scalping (some of whom have spoken above). Let me try to get my point across again. I ALWAYS buy my tickets from scalpers and I always sit up front. I was in the 5th row at the 3/15 Oakland show and in the 3rd row at 5/22 Phoenix show. For those of you have been up front - you know, once you are close at a Buffett concert, you never go back. It is a different / better experience -- almost surreal if you are a true Buffett fan. I view scalper dweebs as a service and I am HAPPY and THRILLED to use their services. When tickets go on sale, I don't sweat like some of you do with all sorts of ploys and efforts to get good tickets -- which rarely work. I just let someone else do the work and pay a few extra bucks. How is that different than any other supply and demand situation in business today ? How is that different than any other type of "broker" ? The fact of the matter is it isn't. How much is your time worth trying to get good tickets ? Scalpers are a valuable service to Parrotheads, not the horror (or maybe whores) some people wrongly believe. Sure they profit off of geting good tickets but so what. If they want to get up at 3 am and stand in line and snag 3rd row seats, they deserve to be paid and I and many of my Parrothead friends are just fine paying for that service. The frustration you have getting Buffett tickets is misplaced towards scalpers. Here is the reason why: demand exceeds supply for Buffett tickets. If there were no scalpers, the demand (or ticket hassles) wouldn't increase or decrease. I, for example, would in fact be getting out of bed at 3 am and standing in line or hitting the internet. Parrotheads are going to see Buffett when he is in town no matter what. You STILL wouldn't be able to get tickets. Some folks believe to ban scalpers means they get the tickets they want. Wrong ! The people who buy through scalpers, then just have to go through regular channels - probably increasing the Ticketbastard hassles. Listen some of us have been Buffett fans for a long, long time. I'm too old and tired to fight to get tickets. So, continue with your futile attempts to ban scalping but realize two things: 1) You will never win. You are fighting the American way of business. 2) Life is short. Trust me, pay the mark-up, relax, sit up front and don't wring your hands about getting your tickets. Again, how much is your time and effort worth ? An example, for my 5th row pair at Oakland (awesome concert !)I paid $355 on eBay. The face value was about $150. So, for $200, I didn't spend 5 minutes getting the tickets and I had one hell of a time. As Bubba said at that concert (in reference to the stock market crash): In 100 years, none of this s*** will matter. Y'all take care...
